Hi sir..There's a formatting option available during the install. Just boot from the Vista CD and select the partition where the old installation is. Windows will do the formatting for you. if you don't have vista you can download it from the following site and then boot your system

I've you dont have a Vista dvd, you should use Hirens Boot CD.

I just checked the HP-Compaq web site for Windows 7 drivers (click here for the site), and they do not provide Windows 7 drivers.

There are Windows Vista drivers that may work with Windows 7, but it will be hit or miss.

No sound from my compaq presario is coming forth. no sound driver.
You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

I downgraded my presario v3000 from vista to XP..it was succesful but i lost my audio...i can only hear sound when i use my blue tooth
For that you need to install sound driver.
Click here
Click on above link and select your os and model then download audio driver and install then it will work fine.

Are booting the laptop from the XP CD? If so it should just give you an option to delete partitions then format and install starts. If you try installing XP after Vista has loaded it wont let you as XP is older. Cheers from Scott
