My Canon EOS 20D has a problem

Hi,
When I take sky shots or distant landscape shots from my Canon EOS 20D camera, a spider like thing appears at the bottom right corner of the image. I am very disappointed. Could you please tell me how to fix this problem?

Are you using a hood on your lens when you take these shots?

Could be that you have dust / dirt on the sensor even when mine was brand new it had dirt on it.

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over...

Try your EOS in AV (aprature value) mode. You should be able to adjust your aperature value in 1/3 or 1/2 steps dependind how you have your Custom Functions set in your camera's menu. Possibly the lens you purchased is for an EOS 35mm. If you use a 35mm lens on your eos there are some calculations you must use. When using a 35mm lens on the EOS 20D, 30D, 40D and 50D bodies, you must first calculate your focal leingth by 1.6 times. With this, your exposure changes as well.

The only EOS Digital SLR bodies that use a 35mm x 24mm CMOS sensor are the 1D and 5D. My wife uses a Tamron 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 lens on her 20D and loves it.

If this makes no difference, you may have a defective lens.

Canon EOS 20D Digital zoom failed

Hi there,
The autofocus mechanism on some lenses can be damaged if you manually focus while the camera is attempting to autofocus. Basically, you would be working against the motor and gears.
There is no need to download software before using the camera, however, I would suggest going to Canon's website and downloading the firmware upgrades for it. Here's the link:

Hope this helps!

EOS 20D - LCD dead??

So far this year we have repaired 4 Canon 20D's with this problem and it always is either the Main PCB ( the interface IC which controls the main display and which sits on the main board shuts down ) or the LCD monitor that have to be replaced so your camera has to go to Canon I am afraid ( ask for a quote as this is a relatively expensive repair ). The fault BTW cannot be caused by using non Canon lenses.

Problems detecting charged battery packs

I assume that you are using a Canon battery. I wonder what blowing into the battery chamber does? My thought is that a connector is loose or a component is overheating. Either way, I would strongly suggest that you take your camera to your nearest Canon Digital repair shop. I do hoope it is still under warranty.

"busy" Error

check your firmware version and update if necessary. Usually you get the "busy" message when your camera is writing to the card and it's possible the card isn't quite right - a format should fix it. Alternatately you might try a different CF card to see if the problem goes away. Good luck!
