Significant travel/use over past few years tells me it needs professional service, cleaning and adjusting; especially, the Auto-Focus which is erratic and often unable to perform.

This will require disassembling camera to remove the lens block and then disassembling the lens block to repair. This can be done fairly inexpensively.
