It won't scan. I took the cover off and it the drive wheels are turning, but the scanner doesn't move. The box that shows % scanned just stays at 0%. It's a conoscann 4400f

It''s a new computer, but the driver might not be the latest. It seemed like a mechanical problem, so I took it apart. Not much luck with that. I'll see if I can get it back together ok and then check the driver. But like I say, the drive wheels are turning, scanner just doesn't move.

Scan says all channels locked out

Please try this,

If the scanner's display locks up or does not work properly after you connect a power source, you might need to reset or initialize it. If you have problems with the scanner, first try to reset it to retain the memory. Warning: Initializing the scanner will clear all channel memories and reverts it the state it was in right out of the box.To Initialize the scanner, turn off the scanner then turn it back on. Press 0 when the welcome screen appears. 'Please select factory tests. Exit if no key is pressed' will briefly appear. Then quickly press 1. 'Initialization clear all memory Enter to confirm Clear to exit' will briefly appear. Quickly press ENT to initialize. 'Initializing, Please stand by' then appears. Do not turn off the scanner while it is initializing. The display should then show M000 on the top line and Bank 0 CH 00 when finished.

Hope that helps!!

My scanner is plugged in but when I try to scan a document it says my scanner is not responding

Hello,

If it is your first time using your printer, then you need to install the driver for it to work.

If you have used your printer without any problem before then, there are two possible reasons why your printer/scanner is having that issue:

1. Connection error
2. Driver problem

First thing's first. Restart your computer and your printer. there are times that computers and printers just need a restart for it to work. Yes, it's strange but it's how things work with machines. They need rebooting to work smoothly.

If rebooting your computer and printer won't fix the problem. Here are the things that you can do.

1. Connection error:
.
a. Turn off your printer and turn it back on. Try scanning, if no go.. proceed to step b.

b. Unplug your printer from your computer and unplug it's power cord and press and hold the printer's power button to 5-8 seconds to completely drain the power. Plug it back in to the wall outlet leaving the connection between your computer and the printer still unplugged. wait until your printer completely turns on. Plug it to your computer and do the scanning process.

If all steps above don't work, then you need to check the driver.

Uinstall the driver of your computer by going to the control panel. After uinstalling it, then reinstall it by using the dvd that came with your printer. Follow the on-screen instructions and try scanning. It should work.

If it doesn't, please reply to this thread.

BC370CRS squelch not working

Take the case apart and clean the Volume and Squelch with Electronic Contact Cleaner until the knobs move really easy. The Potentiometers should now be clean and the Scanner should work as it should now.

I get a error initializing scanner?

Background of issue- When 4345/M4345 boots up, amber light comes on under start button and the message "Initializing Scanner" is displayed. The unit will print but will not preform any scan functions.

Steps taken to try to resolve issue:
1. Updated firmware
2. Restored factory defaults
3. Took off cover in back of printer covering scanner controller board and reseated all cables
4. Took apart scan unit and cleaned (2)mirrors in scan head
5. Took off back cover of unit, reseated cables coming from scanner controller board
6. Ran Scanner Test, in menu (which everything functions properly)

Usually I would say scanner or controller board has failed but I had 3 M4345 come down with this issue in one week. The only resolve i've found for this issue is repetitively turning on and off the unit until it comes up without "scanner initializing" message. Once it comes up it functions 100% until the unit is turned off and issue will come back.

I'm at a loss here with so many units having same issue, open to any advice. I once took the formatter out of bad unit and put it in good one and it caused the issue in the good one but i'm double verifying this tonight. Thanks for any help.

When I scan a photo, my Brookstone IConvert photo scanner has white lines all over the pictures.

The reason it has white lines is because the glass is dirty in the inside. If it has one speck of anything inside the scanner it turns into a line because it stays in that one place as the picture slides over it. So that line is actually a dot that is covering the picture throughout the scan. The solutions don't work. I don't suggest taking yours apart. I took mine apart and cleaned the glass. The pictures scanned fine and then the lines show up again. The real solution is to get your money back if you can. It will do this over and over. It's a design flaw in the scanner. The picture is actually squeezed as it it scanned. As pictures are squeezed against the glass... residue builds no matter how clean your pictures are.

Will not scan

With the power off & the machine unplugged, remove the scan glass & move the scanner a few inches from "home" position. Plug in & turn on machine. Does the scanner return to home position? If not, you either have a bad scanner motor or scanner cable. I'll look for you to post the results of the scanner drive test.
