The delay is caused by the flash charging. Put the camera in Program mode (P on your dial). This is similar to Auto, but you can turn off the flash. Press the button with the lightning bolt by it until you see the same icon but with a slash through it in your LCD screen.

Now keep in mind taking pictures this way will often result in blurry pictures because you're overiding both the Autofocus (by pushing all the way down on the shutter instead of first half way), and the flash (you may need to keep the camera extra steady in low light situations).

Ge adora washing machine beeps when pushing start with door closed

Hit the power button until there is NO display . Unplug and wait a minimum of 30 seconds , plug back in and within 30 seconds hit SIGNAL button then DELAY START button then SIGNAL button again then DELAY START button again. door should lock and display t01 It is now in test mode . There are 14 different test it can run through in this mode , but all we are trying to do is check for error codes now and maybe get you back to normal, So turn the knob one click clockwise and hit the START/PAUSE button and see if any error codes come up. To exit the diagnostic mode - hit signal button then delay start button then signal button then delay start button and you are out of service test mode and back to normal. Post any error codes.

There's a long delay from the time I push the button until the flash goes off and the picture actually takes. I miss the smiling child and get a turned head instead.

Press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) and when the moment is right, press the rest of the way.

When you take a picture there is a delay before it finishes, so taking kids pics are out of the question..how can this be fixed or is it made that way

If you are referring to the delay when you press the shutter button and when the camera actually takes the picture, this is called "shutter lag" and is common to all point and shoot cameras. You need to learn the "half press". This means that you press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep). Then, while holding the button in, you can recompose the shot and when the moment is right, press the rest of the way for an "instant" (or close to it) shot.

When i push the button to take a picture, the camera delays for about 3 or 4 seconds before it actually take the pic. Why does it delay?

Hi,

There could be several problems like:

1)The focus.
2)Self timer set to 2sec or 10sec.
3)very slow shutter speed set.
Make it as a 10 or 20 second delay on the self timer .Your problem here could be that the settings are not right. Go to the menus and reset all to original or default. Then set menus the way you like. You may have a slow memory card, try changing to a faster card, and test it.

Thank you!

Delay of picture taking

This is normal behavior for most compact point&shoot cameras, especially one of such vintage. You can eliminate some (though not all) of the delay by pressing the shutter release button halfway to meter and focus, then press the button all the way at the peak moment.

Pre-focus by pressing the shutter button half-way until the camera beeps, then press the rest of the way when the moment is right.
