Be sure the lint filter is clean, and the temp sensor blown clean. Sometimes when cleaning the lint filter the some small amount of lint drops by the filter or screen and land on a hot spot. Lint can catch fire so clean with a air hose or vacuum cleaner - Good luck and be safe

What could it be ?when machine runs when power is turned on and there is aburning smell. Machine hhasn't been used for some time.

Hi! It is usually the thin machine oil that becomes a bit thick when the machine is not used.
Nothing to worry about.
Put the machine in the sun every so often to keep the oil thin.

Hi, there is a really bad smell coming from the machine, also i have just done a 60 cycle and the white wash has come out with black marks on, looks like fungus,

Hi

The smell usually comes when the washer is unable to drain water completely, you can run your washer at its hottest temperature setting with 1 cup of vinegar inside the unit. After this take off the bottom front panel and clean it completely, also clean the drain hose and drain pump filter, the smell should disappear after doing all this.

Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Smell coming from washing machine like stagnant water-hotpoint wma 44....seems to be coming up through the drain in sink

Hi from retired Englishman in France,

If the smell is coming from the drain in the sink, it is more likely that THERE is the problem rather than the washing machine. Washing machines deal only with 'dirty' clothes whereas sinks have all sorts of things going down them! You could have a partially blocked u-tube (not to be confused with YouTube!) in the sink because normal (changing/flowing) water in the u-tube should block smells coming from the main/foul water drainage system.
I would definitely investigate the sink! If it is not practical to remove the u-tube, use a propriatory sink cleaner ensuring that it is the right one for the job- OK for plastics or OK for metal (not chrome).

Good luck,

The washer power is on, everything seems to work but the water won't come on at all, then all the lights start flashing.

Hi,

If i got you Correct - Water is not entering the Washer? Am i Correct?

OK,

Few more Details :-

1. Make and Model of the washer?
2. How old the unit is?
3. Any Smell, Noise or Error Message?
4. Any Sequence of Blinks?

Thanks!!

I have aburning smell from the door switch (top load)

Any smell of electrical burning should encourage you to turn the power to the machine off and call a service person. Fire can destroy a house for the cost of a new switch and A service call

DIY is awkward for anyone without the tools or experience so lesve it to an expert.
