Quit Working WE had a problem in that the washer was acking up and would not work unless you hit the lid.  Now it wont work at all.  I expect it is the lid switch. How do you oped the washer up? Maytag Atlantis MAV6000AWW

Your washer lid lock button is locked and lid was not put down before it locked, which is why the light is flashing. Therefore, push the "START" button until you see the lid lock button is off (Approx 3 seconds). Once it is off, then you can put the lid down and push the start button again, which will lock the lid into place. The washer will NOT drain or wash or spin unless the lid itself is in the locked position. If you were able to get the lid down and locked and it still doesn't work, then you need a technician to replace a wiring harness. However, you mentioned that the lid lock button was flashing, therefore, it stands to reason that your lid is NOT locked down.

Somewhere the connections is loose OR the lid is not closing properly

Does it show power on? If not, check the lid switch.
Maytag washers do not power on when door switch gets bad.

If the machine fills with water normally but then just sits there, you might have a bad lid switch - that's the safety interlock that won't let the machine start unless the lid is closed. Check the switch and also make sure the lid engages it when you put the lid down. Of course there could also be a problem with the motor, but first check that switch.

I believe it is your lid switch. I have replaced 3 this week. If you get me the model number i can tell you for sure. Another thing that caused this is the motor to go bad. Do you smell a burning smell when it is trying to run after the fill up? If not get me the model number and i will get you the part number for the lid switch.

you have a problem in the transmission of the washer

sounds llike a bad lid switch assy, not realizinf the lid is shut, for safety reasons wont run, can you hear any "click" just before the lid actually closes, it should be triggering the lid swith, if no t reppalce the lid switch assy, reall common issue
