Janome 6260 after running for about 1 hour will start to sew erratically, then stall with LO message. Will not wind bobbin when this message is displayed. Bobbins wind loosely and unevenly.

Here's Janome LO error;

LO: Replace the foot controller.

  1. Check for a tight or stuck clutch by the hand wheel.
  2. The machine may be jammed. Remove the timing belt to locate whether the bind is on the upper shaft or lower shaft. If it is the upper shaft, there may be thread caught in the take-up lever or crank pin. If the lower shaft is binding, check hook clearance, hook backlash. Check the lower shaft rear bushing for any black 'gunk'. If there is, replace the lower shaft and rear bushing.
  3. Clean the sensor on the DC motor and check if the shield plate on the motor is not loose or hitting the sensor. If either the sensor or shield plate is damaged, replace the motor.
  4. Check the upper shaft sensor. Make sure the shield plate is going perfectly thru the middle of the sensor. Replace the sensor and/or shield plate if damaged.
  5. If you still get the error, replace the DC Motor or upper shaft sensor (in this order).
My first thought is if you're running nearly non-stop for an hour the motor is overheating. Not sure what the maintenance schedule is for this machine <?>. May need a good cleaning/lube. Then foot pedal, then other.

SOURCE: Bobbin won't wind

I have checked the gears underneath and see no missing teeth for the bobbin part. The bobbin "seat" does raise, but does not engage. Thanks

SOURCE: Bobbin winding message

Under the top cover, on the right hand side where the bobbin winder is, there is a small switch which is activated when the bobbin is being wound. You will need to remove the cover and reposition the switch (it's located towards the front of the machine) to make it work properly.

You can find Singer bobbin winding instructions at http://www.singerco.com/resources/bobbin_wind.html.
"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.

SOURCE: My elna sewing machine bobbin

If the fly wheel is going around then the clutch isn't disengaged to wind the bobbin, you need to pull out the flywheel on your model to disengage the clutch for bobbin winding.

Take thread from thread spool across to bobbin winder thread guide, then back to bobbin and thread the tail through the hole on top of the bobbin. Place bobbin onto spindle on top of machine and then push it against the stop to engage the bobbin winding motor. HOld the thread tail up and start winding slowly until the bobbin core has been covered including the starting point. Stop and trim off the thread tail with scissors. COntinue winding bobbin and give the thread a nudge if needed to wind evening top middle and bottom of the bobbin. A good smooth wind is important. Also don't wind at full speed and keep an eye on the thread reel that the thread is coming off, you don't want it bouncing around as this will **** the thread and stretch then relax it affecting your bobbin wind.

Obviously if you know this and the bobbin winding mechanisim is just not working, then it will need a service/replacement by an Elna repair person.

I have a Janome 6260QC it shows an error code of two reversed brackets. what does that mean,

If the symbol looks like ] [, then this isn't generally an error message. The machine is in bobbin wind mode. Move the bobbin winder spindle to the left. If the spindle is all the way to the left, then you have a problem with the bobbin winding mechanism below the bobbin winder spindle slot. The sewing machine isn't correctly getting the message of where the spindle is.

The Janome 6260 Quilter's Companion manual is available from Janome. The current link is https://www.janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/retired/computer/inst-book-6260qc.pdf . See page 11 (13 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

I have a Janome 6260. My machine sewed great, but this time when I went to use it the knob on the side of the machine that makes the needle go up and down suddenly got really hard to turn and then when...

I've had the Lo come on my screen of my sewing machine also, but normally when I turned it off it corrected the jam up.
Lo- A button is pressed when the machine halts due to a overload
wait 15 seconds to recover
if thread jamming causes the overload, remove the tangled thread
check the bobbin area for lint & loose threads
also check to see if the bobbin is warped
check you needle to see if it's bent-roll on a flat surface to see if it rolls correctly
if it's blunt it makes a popping sound when going thru fabric
let me know if these suggestions help
