How to change belt on Dyson dc33

Hi William, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 doesn't use a traditional, user-replaceable belt. Instead, the two belts are part of the brush control mechanism, which allows you to shut off the brush bar to clean hard floors and delicate rugs. These belts are engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use.

If your DC33's brush bar isn't currently rotating, please follow each of the steps shown in our online Support guide, to rule out any simple issues: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc33/dc33-multifloor/using-my-dyson-list/flo-dc07-gen-how-to-remove-a-blockage/redirect-to-removing-debris-from-the-brushbar-dc33/removing-debris-from-the-brushbar-dc33

It's also important to make sure your DC33's brush control is set to carpets rather than hard floors:

Dyson dc33 brush won't turn but belt not broken

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 is suitable for cleaning hard and carpeted floors. It includes a brush control system which allows you to shut the brush bar off when cleaning hard floor surfaces. It's worth checking that the brush control is set correctly - it's possible it may have been inadvertently set to 'Hard floors'. For the brush bar to rotate, it must be set to 'Carpets':

It's also important to note that the brush bar will not rotate when the vacuum is standing upright, so make sure you recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, please turn off and unplug the machine, then check that there are no obstructions in the cleaner head which could be jamming the brush bar. Remove any threads or hair around the brush bar, as these can affect the performance.

Brush bar doesn't fit back in

Hi Ryan, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33's brush bar is not engineered to be removed by the user, and we would recommend using scissors to carefully cut away any hair or threads with the brush bar in place. You can remove the soleplate for easier access: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc33/dc33-multifloor/using-my-dyson-list/flo-dc07-gen-how-to-remove-a-blockage/redirect-to-removing-debris-from-the-brushbar-dc33/removing-debris-from-the-brushbar-dc33

For help replacing the brush bar I would encourage you to contact our experts directly - they may be able to talk you through it. You can reach them by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My dyson upright has no suction from the hose and after replacing the belt it squels something terriable. Can you help me please I am not very technically minded.

Hi Michael,

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC33. The problem you are describing with the hose sounds like a blockage. Please visit http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1419&product=DC33-MULTIFLOOR for step by step instructions to locate and remove any blockages. You may also want to wash your filters to ensure proper performance.

The squealing sound you describe is unusual. With the machine turned off and unplugged, we recommend inspecting the brush bar for any debris that could be wrapped around the brush and making contact with the belt. However, because you have recently changed the belt, we would also appreciate the opportunity to trouble shoot with you over the phone. Please call us at 1-866-693-9766 US or 0800 298 0298 UK so we can provide further assistance.

Best wishes,

Jessica

Sounds like the beater bar hits the front plastic makes a loud awful noise

Hi Cathy,

Your DC33's brush control is designed to make a ratcheting sound to warn you if something is jamming the brush bar. You should be able to resolve this by making sure the cleaner head is free of any obstructions, and removing any threads or hair from around the brush bar. For guidance in doing this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc33/dc33-multi-floor/dc33-maintaining-your-dyson-machine/how-to-remove-a-blockage/from-the-brushbar/removing-debris-from-the-brushbar

This should resolve the issue, but if you're still concerned about the machine after following these steps, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance.
