Maytag Model LAT 7793 AAW Timer failed so I replaced that. Belts worn so I replaced both. Now motor runs but drum does not spin; belts get hot. Problem?

Only the drum belt does not turn; water pump belt turns just fine. The drum pulley will not turn even with no belt. It looks like it may be the bearing failing. Belts are installed properly.tub bearing was sticking. Freed bearing then lubed it.

The motor is faulty. Either the relay contacts are stuck or there is a shorted winding. Best to replace the motor.

SOURCE: maytag coin-op top load wont spin, motor runs, belt burns.

it not a belt, there is a $20 plastic and rubber coupling between the motor and the transmission that has broken.  It needs replacing.

SOURCE: drum isn't spinning but motor is

check inner tub fastens, if they check ok, replace the transmission. note: you will need special tools to change this, if you have them great, if not, you would be better off calling a&e factory service for the repair, 18009059505.

The belt turn the pulley, but the height of the pulley is worn out so it didn't push up a mechanism to release the brake and to engage with the clutch to make the spin.
You have to takethe shaft out to study how it works then it makes sense on what I 'm talking.
The pulley cost only $11 but it is a major laboring exercise. It is a good learning to have hands on to this problem. Good luck on replacing the pulley.

My matag washing machine will spin but not agitate

It doesn't agitate If your washer doesn't agitate, check these: Lid switch Motor coupler Belts Clutch Drive motor Drive pulleys Transmission Agitator Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, the washing machine may not agitate or function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. Motor coupler Many washers produced by Whirlpool® use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. If this happens, you need to completely replace it. Belts Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.) Clutch If your washer was made by GE®, it may use a clutch for agitating the clothes. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the washer from agitating well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician. Drive motor Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor. Drive pulleys The motor or transmission drive pulley may be worn and unable to turn the drive belt. If so, replace the pulley.

LAT 9400 AAW no motorized funtions only fills up

The only other thing it would check is your pressure switch. This will case a no agitation issue. If you remove clear pressure switch tub from the tub and blow into it you should hear a click from the pressure switch. With power your motor may agitate. Also check to see if the tube is clogged. If the issue is not in your pressure switch then i would have to assume the problem is in the timer. If you can read the schematic (usually located behind the control panel you could check to see if you timer is sending 120v down to the motor.

Hope this helps _MJ_

It does not agitate when in the normal cycle and does not drain.

"Does not agitate" sounds like a broken or worn drive belt. "Does not drain" sounds like a broken or worn pump belt. Since it is unlikely that both belts are bad, I suspect that the next common link, the drive motor, is bad, i.e. your drive motor is either defective or not getting power during the agitate and spin cycles. The primary symptom for a non-operating drive motor should be obvious, i.e., the machine just doesn't run after the wash fill, and it doesn't empty when the timer advances to the spin/drain cycle. If the drive motor does sound like its running, I would then inspect both belts and drive motor pulley for proper operation.

PEACE,

It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

* The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

* The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

* A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)

* The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.

* The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.
