Thanks but pressure tube was 1st thing I checked. It fills to correct level when Washer is empty.

SOURCE: Black mark on clothes after washed in Maytag top load washer.
Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.

Pr obably a coupling between the motor and gear box, Take motor off and coupling will come out, re place it and it should be fine

If the washer fills up with water and you hear the motor running but the agitator doesn’t move, the agitator coupling is the most likely problem. First pump the water out by turning the timer to spin. Once the water is out, turn the washer off. Now pull up on the agitator until it comes off (it may be hard to pull off). Now that the agitator is off, you can see the agitator coupling, reach down and try to turn the coupling. If the coupling turns freely, it is striped out and needs to be replaced.

Mine is 1 1/2 years old and this worked for me
unplug from power for at least 30 seconds
turn the dial to spin but don't pull out
plug back in to power and open and shut completely so switch is engaged solidly 11 times in 15 seconds.
pull out knob to turn on
This should clear a error code.

Any ideas? What actually senses load size and water level on this model? It fills normally with no clothes in it, but puts way too much water with clothes in it.
