Need to set URC22B universal remote controler to my toshiba tv/video player

SETTING UP THE REMOTE
1. Push the tab and lift
off the battery
cover.
2. Fit four AAA
batteries, taking
care to match the +
and - marks in the
battery
compartment.
BATTERY SAVER
Your UR81A remote automatically "timesout"
if the keys are pressed for more than
two minutes. This will save your batteries
should your remote get stuck in a place
where the keys remain depressed (e.g.,
between the sofa cushions).
CODE SAVER (IMPORTANT)
You have up to 90 seconds to change
the batteries in your remote without losing
codes you have programmed. However,
do not press any buttons until batteries
are installed in the remote. If buttons are
pressed without batteries in the remote,
all codes will be lost.

SETTING UP THE RECEIVER
Shut down your PC. Plug the cord on the
MR26A Receiver into the serial port on
your PC. Locate the receiver as far away
from your PC and your monitor as its
cord allows. Reboot your PC (turn it on).
The red LED power indicator on the
receiver should be on.
SETTING UP THE SOFTWARE
NOTE: X10's BOOM software lets you
control an MP3 player application from
the UR81A Remote. It works with
WinAmp, RealJukeBox, MusicMatch,
Windows Media Player, etc. which you
must previously have installed. It also
controls a DVD player and CD player in
your PC.

1. Download the BOOM software from:
http://www.x10.com/software
2. Launch the installer.
3. Follow the instructions in the installer.
After installation is complete the Boom
software automatically launches and
picture window.

4. Right- click on the BOOM window
and select applications for each of the
modes (i.e. MP3, CD, DVD). Note, if
you don't have any DVD or CD
application, leave the selection box
blank or set it to the same application
as a previous selection. i.e. in the
window below there was no DVD
player installed so it was left the same
as the Windows Media Player

5. Click the OK button to save the
choices.
You are now ready to use the remote.
To launch an application:
Press the PC button.
Then select the appropriate mode (MP3,
DVD, or CD) by pressing 1, 2, or 3. The
Media shown in the Boom window
changes to MP3, DVD, or CD,
depending on which button you pressed.

Why did my Mp3 Player Add/Delete a File I Didn't Want? Manual vs. Automatic Synchronization in Windows Media Player

by Tha Mp3 Doctor

The difference between manual and automatic synchronization is very important. If you’re ever wondering why you computer added files to your device when you didn’t want it to, or why it deleted files unexpectedly, then there is a good chance that you have automatic synchronization activated. Manual synchronization allows you to only add/delete only those files that you want to keep or discard.

To disable auto-sync in Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/howto/sync_how_to.aspx

To disable auto-sync in Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Run the mouse cursor over the Sync tab – a little black arrow should appear under the word “Sync”

4. Click on the little arrow and a drop-down menu should appear

5. Select “Set Up Sync” in the drop-down menu

6. Uncheck the box that says “Sync this device automatically”

Microsoft’s Directions:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/howto/mp11/sync.aspx

There are many good outside websites out there – many with videos on how to do everything we have described in these pages. Hopefully, this will give many of you a start into the wonderful world of music transfer through mp3 players and Windows Media Player.

For some reason, my video is a .mov file and when I try and import it into Windows Media Player to rotate my video, it says that file type is not supported. What can I do?

First of all, you can't rotate a video without some expensive software installed on your computer and even then, the results will be poor at best. Download Quicktime from Apple to play your video...it's a free download.

My av700 albums delete when i reconnect to my computer

Disable the automatic synchronization option in Windows Media Player. Go to www.microsoft.com and enter either "automatic synchronization windows media player" or "manual synchronization windows media player" as you search term for click-by-click directions with pictures.

Short version: Connect mp3 player to computer, highlight sync tab, click on little black arrow and bring down drop-down menu, click on Set Up Sync, uncheck box that says "automatically synchronize blah blah blah"...

Drive not responding

Windows uses autorun or autoplay to detect removable discs such as cds and dvds.

Some cd and dvdroms, especially software installers, have an autorun.inf file which forces the disc to start.

Firstly Autoplay. Your media player may have been set to disable this function so your discs do not automatically run. Or you may have several suitable media players installed, but you haven't set one as your default player. Make sure you choose a default player, then set it to automatically run when a disc is inserted.

Secondly, you should be able to manually run the disc by going to My Computer then left click the dvd or cd drive. You may be prompted to select a player or program to run the disc.

Thirdly, "autorun" may have been disabled in registry.
You can check this by looking at the following key in registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveAutoRun
This will be followed by Bit 0 for drive A and Bit 1 for drive B etc. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS, DO NOT TOUCH REGISTRY!!!

Fourthly, as kykeaton says, you may have a faulty drive.

autorun may have been deliberately disabled in registry.
