SOURCE: Jura E9 grinder spins but does not grind

I had a similar problem, and solved it by turning the grinder by hand against resistance. Apparently the grinder wasn't really turning during the cycle and needed to be cleared. If your beans are "hopping" this may be a different problem.

Testimonial: "Grinder is turning but old bean oil is clogging it. Stirring beans on next brewing after drying the grinder was also customer services recommendation"

I just called their customer service 800-220-5701 with the same problem.

There's a point at the bottom of the chute where you can add ground coffee that tends to clog, especially if water gets in there. Access is from underneath - - remove the bottom tray and reach in - - it's not the hinged flap opening (that's the first thing you'll feel) but if you leave that closed and reach behind it, there's a silver-dollar sized area you're supposed to try to access and clean using a dry cloth. Once that's done you're supposed to try vacuuming from the top and then let it dry for a day or two.

SOURCE: My Jura Ena 5 gives a 'fill beans' message

Same thing happening to me right now. I think this has something to do with having used flavored beans (which I was warned not to do). Supposedly they gum up the machine.

Hello,
This sometimes happens when after cleaning the machine. I will explain: The beans have a natural oil on them as you know, that also helps coat the hopper for beans to fall. Sometimes when cleaning the machine, the natural oil that is built up around the hopper is not there. Once you brew a cup sometimes the light will go off on its on. If the beans by shaking the machine will not drop down, try using a wooden spoon and help get them going. Other way, is cleaning out the beans completely and then spaying some PAM (used for cooking). What I also did was locate the complete manual for you to download and read page 21 in the trouble shooting area. Here is the link you can copy and paste and put in your browser.

I need a description for how to open and clean the grinder. I keep getting fill beans message and it has beans.

I have not done it, but I believe you simply remove the two screws you can seen when you look into the coffee bin.

I used to get "fill beans" messages when there were beans in the hopper. Eventually I determined this was due to my choice of beans: oily (ie. shiny) beans seem to clog up frequently, "dry" beans (beams without a sheen) rarely clog up.

Since the beans are gravity fed, oily ones tend to stick to one another

Why fill bean message shows on display when machine is full of beans?

Difficult to say without the machine in front of me. Normally you get this response if no beans fall into the grinder. Are your beans oily, sticking together and not falling in?
Normally freshly roasted beans esp dark roasts are a bit oily. If so then you can change roasts, brands or mix with another type.
You might try to adjust your grind per the manual. (turn knob inside the bin while the grinder is grinding) see #8 page 12.
If the beans are falling in and grinding and you still get this msg I would say you have a grinder problem.

Jura beans won't grind

I just called Jura support and they talked me through this SIMPLE solution and it worked right away. Change the grind setting *while the grinder is a spinning*. If you don’t do it while its spinning nothing will happen.

Don’t hesitate to call Jura - their support team is very good.

Display reads fill beans, but bean are filled. I also took them all out thinking something was lodged in there, Turned machine on and off, switched settings and still says fill beans.

This sounds like the grinder is not strong enough to grind properly. Try adjust the grind to a bit coarser, if this makes no difference then the bearings inside the grinder may gone. Try only fill a small amount of beans in the container and see if it works. It may be that when there is too much of a load on it it will not spin the blades.

My Jura Ena gives a 'fill beans' message even though the hopper is full and it won't grind the beans even though it seems to be operating. Help.

Mine just started doing the same thing. I've always only used plain espresso beans. Only thing is I may have overfilled the hopper and packed the beans down a bit. How can I make it start grinding again?

The machine says FILL BEANS but beans are in it...yes, we did run out of beans but now it won't recognize beans. we cleaned it out, grinded , etc...but it still says fill beans. We also rinsed many times,...

Hi
Oily beans (shiny) can some times stick together after grinding with a fine setting. Try opening the grinder setting to the very coarsest setting and see if it will clear the passage. If you have pushed the brew button an lot of times you may have packed the grounds in the passage which will have to cleaned manually.
Once you have the grinder working again, open it to the coarsest setting to clean the burrs. 1 time is enough. To turn the grind setting back down to your setting make sure that the grinder is running at that time. You can open to a coarse setting any time but it has to be running to finer.
