Hi,
Check if the replacement battery is detected by the computer. The same can be seen with an icon on the lower right hand side of the screen in the notification area , there would be an icon of the battery.
If the battery is not detected, the problem could be a faulty battery or battery bay.
if the battery is detected, but doesnot charge the problem could be a faulty Ac adpater, check with a good known Ac adapter.

Take the Battery back Its defective , New batteries should charge for 18-24 hours, and the computer should tell u that it wont run till the battery is fully charged.

It's sounding like a motherboard problem to me.
You've done all you can--the circuit on your motherboard that controls the charging is evidently gone bad on you.
