I had the similar set up. I felt like there had to be a screw in the there that I could access from the front. I was wrong and figured out for my situation to apply vice grips around the front shaft and turned it counter clockwise and that actually took the whole valve out. Now I can't get the set screw out....plumbing is funner when there's someone else to watch do it.

How to lift off the handle after the set screw is removed?

it may be corroded on to the square shaft
WD -40 or like type in the screw hole may help but I think a gentle prying with a flat bladed screw drive at the edge of the handle or brute force may be necessary

11304 field removal

I assume the wiring has been disconnected where required, use a soft face hammer and on the open end of the motor housing tap the end of the housing at each screw hole, after a few blows the field assembly should start sliding out (every action has an equal and opposite reaction) installation is the reverse, fit the field and keeping it parallel to the housing push it in by hand as far as you can then use the soft face hammer on the other end of the motor housing to draw the field back in, Note: don't hit the field itself or you will damage it

Trying to remove triples tree clamp

I had the same prob with my 1985 (years ago). Wrap the shock tubes below the tree with a rag. Then douche the shock tubes on top of the tree with wd-40. Let it sit overnight. I had to use a flat head screw driver to spread the clamp area apart a bit. Then tapped the tree clamp area with a hammer a few times, and then set a pry bar just below the clamp area. Tapped that a few times to break it loose. It has to do with grime locking the upper tubes in place. Oh, and do it on the center stand. It will give you some play.

Handle stuck; How descale w/o ruining chrome finish

WD-40 will not harm the chrome but it you have liquid wrench, it would be better lubricant as WD 40 chemicals are actually a cleaner.

A descaler you need to be careful here. Lime-away or CLR is a popular choice but you need to read the label on chome products.
