SOURCE: 17" LCD Monitor - only works for a few seconds when turned on.

It seems to be an Inverter related problem in which backlight seems to be shiutting down.Is this monitor 3-4 years old???If so backlight of the panel could be an issue.

SOURCE: LCD monitor comes on for about 10 seconds then goes off

It sounds like the power supply board on the monitor may be faulty (that or the backlight).

You could test it on another computer to see if does the same thing (or another monitor on your computer).
If the same problem occurs on this LCD you'll either need to get it repaired under warranty, or pay for it to be repaired. Or just throw it out.

SOURCE: Display goes out

I had a problem with my 1916w monitor where it came on and the monitor began to squeal, the screen went black and the noise stopped. The monitor power indicator whent from green to orange. It turned out to be two bad (domed) CapXon 1000 microfard 25v dc capacitors on the power board. This brand of capacitor has been a known cause of problems in various makers monitors. Replace these two capacitors and any others that have domed tops with a good brand of capacitor of the same rating. Replacing these two capacitors fixed my problem. I have disassembly instuctions for this monitor in answer to another persons problem in FixYa where he inquired how to get the covers off the monitor. Good luck and have a merry Christmas.

I have a computer and it was working fine until i pushed the monitor fn toggle thing, Now i cannot get the external monitor to turn back on

You will have to play around with the FN + (monitor toggle) key a few times. There are about 2-4 settings made, so you will just have to press it, give it a few seconds, and then try again until it comes back.

Then I would restart the computer just to make sure it works.

My AOC screen goes black after about a few seconds after booting.

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer or service center within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Gateway monitor FPD1975W won't display

Same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.

If your video cable has two plugs on the monitor end, try the other plug.
