No driver

Make sure the video card driver is as up to date as possible. If 7 is not available for it, an earlier Vista or XP usually work, but not always- if you load the same bit type- ie, 32 bit versions for 32 bit 7 and 64 bit versions for 64 bit 7. Eventide took over that part of Princeton Digital's product line and have nothing listed in their support areas.

Lines on upper left corner, inside of screen

its problem with the display cable (not the one you connect to your pc)
open the lcd display and look for a cable that is attached to the front glass display. check whether it is dameged.. it cannot be replaced
you need to replace the whole display that would be better. and cost effective

I've read many posts regarding

The driver is needed if the correct resolution for the monitor is not on the listed, it will not affect the sceen symptom that you are having. Color casting (Red, green, blue, pink, yellow, etc. color casting the whole screen) on the screen is usually caused by poor video cable connections or bent pins or bad PC's video card. I would check that first.

This monitor is known for bad caps for sure, and it can cause a lot of starnge problem.
We need to find out first if it is the monitor or the PC problem. You will not find win7 driver for this monitor since the company no longer support this old monitor.

Vl1918 it poweres on and shuts off.repeat

Hello,
I have 1500 Princeston monitors in my labs.
the 1700 series need a high rated cap. the company used Caps that could not react to constant on off abuse.
The 19s are about the same If you only have two caps.
the Larger cap is25V at 1000uf replace with a higher grade cap at 1000mF at 25Volts
the smaller of the two is 1000uF at 10 V
replaced again with a higher grade Cap vauled at 1000mF at 10Volts.
Belive me after 300 of these it's the caps. if they are buldging or not.
If you have a VL2018w the kind I just repaired today and one that i am using at this very moment.
It uses 4 caps on an a seperate inverter board. all four must be replaced. and use the good stuff.
all four are 1000mF at 10volts.I use Nichicon Capacitors only.About 3.50 for the average joe.
I get them for .45 but I buy like 1000 at a time.
I just repaired 4 1708's and will be repairing 11 of them tomorow.
Like I've said when they work, they work well and we keep ours on 24/7/365.
for the money I'd go with a Philips 17" or 19" they make them better than thier plasma TV's.
Hope this helped.

I have no sound on

No sound driver is needed for the built-in monitor power speakers (just think of it as a Powered PC speakers built-into the monitor). Are your PC sound card and driver and setting OK? Try feeding the monitor with sound source from MP3 player to see if it works OK, To repair the amplifiers in the monitor will not be worth it since you can spend the same amount for a good set of Powered PC speakers instead with much better sounding.

How do I change the size of the image of a

You can't change the image size as such actually on the monitor but you can change the size of the image feeding the monitor.
In windows right click the desktop, click properties in drop down menu then click settings. The setting should correspond with the native setting of the monitor which is 1280x1024 pixels and that is what you should set it to.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

The screen is very blurry and difficult to read.

  • There is a possibility that there is a problem with the cable your using. Try to check the pins and make sure it is complete or try to use other cable monitor to see if you will still see the same issue.
