I have always had good luck with DVI to HDMI converters. My advice would be to find another monitor and see if it works on that. If it does, then you know the signal is getting through. It might be a setting on the PS3 as well. I'm only familiar with PC to monitor conversion.

try your colour reduce it a bit and it should work if there is to much colour it will turn on and off

Yopu can adjust the brightness of the monitor from the avaialbe panel buttons Alternatively you can do so from the Operating Sytem brightness control which depends on the platform you are using. If its windows you can navigate to control panel and the power settings and adjust the brightness by sliding the slide bar as desired.

Open the case of the monitor and reseat the lcd panel. Beware, it's very fragile and cannot be repaired.

if you have a cable already, try to adjust the volume using the buttons on the screen

I had the same problem some time ago.
After dismateling the power-supply unit it apeared that there was en crack in a solderjoint at one of the power transistors. This transistor has 3 legs (TO220 I believe), from which the middle leg had a solder crack, probebly due to thermal stress. Just resolder and it worked again....
Its worth a try I think.

Sounds like a mode issue. Make sure you have the pc set to a compatible mode for the monitor. You may also want to double check the vga cable is firmly set in the monitor and pc.
