IT WONT COPY OR SCAN

Please try this approach:
  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the printer.
  2. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  3. Close the printer cover.
  4. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
  5. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges. Close the printer cover.
  6. Load some paper.
  7. Try to scan or make a copy again to verify that the problem is fixed.
I hope this helps.

When i on the printer the number 3&5 flashes on the printer

Hi,
Those numbers could indicate a few things.
  • First number 3 means you need to check for paper jams.Turn on the printer.Open the scan unit or the front cover, check for any stuck papers inside and remove them.
  • Check the rear paper tray and remove any stuck papers.
  • Number 5 means you need to check the cartridges.Open the scanning unit and check if the cartridges are installed correctly and are the right cartridges.Install the correct FINE cartridges.
  • Turn printer off and on again.
  • If error continues you may have to replace the printhead.

If the paper is still stuck on the printer then the sensor might be malfunctioning.
So first clear all the stuck paper from inside the printer and clear all the rollers (for stuck paper and residue.)

I have a Canon Pixma 170 printer. I'm getting an error message of a paper jam and there is no paper in the printer. The cartridge cable is stuck on the right of the printer and is not sliding back to the...

You may have a piece of paper left inside. If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the machine, open the
Scanning Unit and remove it. Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine at this time. After removing the paper, close the
Scanning Unit, turn the machine OFF and turn it back ON.
If you tried to print Credit Card-sized paper in the landscape orientation you can get <PAPER JAMMED> or <E,3> displayed on the LCD/LED, remove the
paper following the procedure below.
1. Load Credit Card-sized paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder one sheet at a time.
Do not load it in the landscape orientation.
2. Press [ON/OFF] on the machine to turn OFF the power.
3. Press [ON/OFF] again on the machine to turn ON the power.
The paper is fed and the jammed paper is ejected accordingly.
If you cannot remove the jammed paper or the error still persists, contact a Canon service representative.

Will not print because paper always jams

Perhaps there is paper still jammed inside the printer that you cannot see (or little bits from a previous jam)

1) Turn off the power
2) Disconnect the power cord and USB cable
3) Open the rear cover and see if paper is jammed inside the cassette area. Gently remove any paper and make sure no little bits of paper are left inside
4) Open the scanning unit (printer cover) and check that no paper is stuck internally. Be careful not to touch the components inside the printer.
5) Reattach the power cord and USB cable
6) Power On and retry your print job

It keeps saying it si jamed when there is no paper in it.

there are sensors inside the machine. they track the paper along the route and scan to ensure paper has passed thru properly. If youre getting a stuck paper error, but there is no paper, you may need to get the machine replaced or serviced. It could be a faulty sensor, or, a sliver of paper jammed inside where you do not see, tripping the sensor.
