How do i unlock keyboard - HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

On most Laptops there is an F# key which will unlock the keyboard. Press Fn at the bottom of the keyboard and then the F(number) key at the top of the keyboard.

if its wireless replace the batteries. if you are using USB keyboard update the driver. use PS2 keyboard to unlock the system login after power on. then plug the USB keyboard to install the driver automatically. all operating system suports USB keyboard and PS2 keyboard but.

     Open the Acer laptop and turn it on. Allow the user to complete all startup procedures before pressing any buttons on the keyboard.

     Locate the "Windows" button. It is located on the bottom left-hand side of the keyboard and has a dark circle with a little waving flag inside. Locate the "L" button as well.

     Press both buttons at the same time. The laptop keyboard is now unlocked. Test the computer by trying to open a file on the computer. If the keyboard did not unlock, repeat the procedure and be sure to press the buttons at the same time. The keyboard will unlock.
     
     

Well you may have a bigger problem than a locked keyboard. If you tried to shut down all your programs and reboot, and if you could reboot as someone else to see if it it a locked keyboard. By rebooting the keyboard should auto unlock however if your using a wireless keyboard (check your batteries), and finally on this machine there is a problem with using USB keyboards, try to unplug the USB keyboard then waiting 10 seconds, then plug it into a different USB port, this will reset the keyboard in some cases, but it may be necessary for you to reload the keyboard driver. Okay you say how do you do that without the keyboard? Well if your mouse is working go to START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>ACCESSIBILITY>ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD and use your mouse to reload the USB keyboard driver and see if that fixes your problem.

I just think you accidentally locked your keyboard and touchpad by pressing the function key!

Just press: FN + F6

this will unlock the keyboard and touchpad!

It's not possible to lock a keyboard, yeah on a laptop's keyboard it's possible when external keyboard is connected (but not all), but on desktop it's not.. Please restart your system, unplug the cable and again replug it. If you still have problem, please let me know. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

Follow this instruction to remove the keyboard >>>>>

Turn off the laptop, unplug the power adapter and remove the battery.


Insert a small flathead screwdriver under the keyboard bezel and carefully lift the bezel up.
Continue removing the bezel with your fingers.


Remove two screws securing the keyboard.
Push on the plastic tab pointed with an arrow.


Carefully lift up the keyboard and place is so you can access the ribbon cable underneath the keyboard.
Unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable.
Remove the keyboard.


In order to unlock the connector you'll have to move the brown tab about 2 millimeters away from the connector base.
On this picture you see the unlocked connector.

1) Open the keyboard.
2) Press the dash looking key above the 'R' and 'T' keys to enter the Unlock mode. The screen will change asking to tap "Unlock" or press "*".
3) Hold the ALT key and press the 'V' key (really '*').

This will unlock the unlock the unit.

Sir,

This is protected with administrator password. It cannot unlock. Only unlock that administrator person only. or Else Reinstall the Keyboard driver software.
