HP zd8000 laptop power supply

I found the solution - and implemented it, it works. The blue (ID) line needs to show 7.5v. The simple way to acheive this is to simply put a 47k resistor from the +19.5v line to the ID line. Apparently there is a pull down at the computer end that means it ends up at 7.5v.

I cut the cable about 6" from the old HP power supply. I then soldered a female power socket onto the loose cable and soldered the 47k resistor between the ID line and the +19.5 line. I then plugged this onto my two pin power supply and the plugged it into my computer. It works very nicely.

Not wishing to junk the HP power supply unecessarily - it was still producing the 19.5v - I then soldered a power plug onto that ignoring the ID line. That now works as well. It seems that the circuitry that provided the 7.5v ID voltage in the HP power supply became flakey. I could have just opened up the power supply (I have already done that) and disconnected the blue line from the circuit board and just tied it to the +ve line via the 47k resistor and then wrapped it with the usual insulating tape.

High DPC Latency

High DPC Latency WHAT OS??????????????????? what Zd8000 is this, full model name on the service tag. pC come in submodels, mine has 6 processor choices, ram size and video GPU chips,. offered on one submodel. we cant guess what PC you have, nor its upgrades nor what OS you are running. NOW, nor what it came with new. id bet it's infected , run ESET, off line scanner yet, its FREE If XP it for sure is INFECTED, as ALL are now. XP is dead now. no support for 3 long years, and is a virus magnet. and very very powerful. and run full Malwarebytes, next. if it ran before, and not now, it is infected. or overheating. or got tons of startup progs, loaded , what is the service tag data. are you running the original HP software? that means not upgraded to w10. nor using MS disks to install OS , only HP works right or f11 key reinstalls. lag. (tests that help prove what it might be)
  1. lags on playing C: test.wav file>
  2. lags playing C: test.mp3/?
  3. lags if you click test windows sounds, in CP + sound
  4. LAGS OFF DVD MOVIE?
  5. LAGS ONLY ON OLINE
  6. LAGS ON ms solitaire?
  7. lags on DVD loaded local games?
  8. lags only on steam games....
  9. lags only on live web games
  10. my guess is it lags from even just sounds. (even music online or off line, not just Video lag, as all on line videos can do.
  11. even my netflix lags on my TV with 200mbs/ fiber. (and has nothing to do with my systems, its the internet or netflix caused.
The DPC spikes, my guess are software overload. too many things running or how many cores is your processor have? i looked up on pc like yours, it had and old Pentium 4. ATI Mobility Radeon X600 with 256MB dedicated are you on wifi or fast broad band, with ethernet direct connect./. but this pc has no gigalan jack, oops, that be bad. running XP are you>? first try this on this old dog pc in the start box. type, msconfig. then see startup tab then shut them all off for a test. see if runs ok now. why not show one example in detail that fails show slow video link online. a youtube. or better , name a game that runs slow or lags nAME JUST ONE Thing, tell where it resides. 1: HDD , folder. local. 2: CD/ or DVD drive. 3: online, games. we cant guess what you do exactly so please say so. what Id do with this pC is give it to GOODWILL (tm) then walk over to the newer Laptops and get one with w7 or newer and WIN !

Media test failure

This error message may appear when the computer BIOS is set to boot from a network and cannot find a bootable operating system on the network or on any of the storage devices included in the notebook PC's boot path. So, if you have any USB sticks or attached HDD's that do not have an install image remove them and reboot. If the HDD has an operating system installed and it still won't work after removing any USB storage, check that the HDD is functioning properly.

Wireless connection no longer works after vista upgrade

HP uses "branded" wireless modules, which means it's got to be HP or it doesn't get to play.
Does device manager see the wireless device? I've had similar situations with the 8000s. Always the driver or the wireless utility was the problem. Try letting windows manage the device, or if you already are, disable that and use the devices utiliy to manage it.
BTW, most systems consider BT as wireless.
Good luck, hope that helps

How do i unlock keyboard

What do you mean? Does your keyboard not respond? You can't turn the keyboard on or off, like you can with a touchpad. You will more than likely have to get a new keyboard, or use an external USB keyboard.

Free recovery disks for hp pavillion zd8000 with windows 7

As far as I know, the original zd8000 operating system is Windows XP. If you have Windows 7 installed, then you need to get Windows 7 disc and its product key. If you need the Windows XP reinstallation media, then you can use HP Windows XP reinstallation disc only (for example: HP Windows XP Professional with SP2 disc).

No Wi-Fi no light on button

If the button or on/off switch that is provided for the WiFi (may have a line with three curved lines coming off of it as a symbol for the button) is toggled or enabled and the wifi won't turn on, then there is a good chance that the driver for the wifi isn't loaded. You can tell if the driver is missing by opening the Control Panel, opening System, opening Device Manager and looking for a Network Adapter category. Expand the Network Adapter category by clicking the plus sign and look for a WiFi adapter in there. If it has a yellow exclamation point ! on it then there is a problem with the network card and it needs to be reinstalled. If there isn't a WiFi or Wireless Network adapter in there, chances are it is found under a category called "Other Devices" and it still needs to be reinstalled. To install it, you will probably have to delete the device out of the device manager (highlight it and press the delete key on the keyboard) and then plug your laptop into wired network connection (usually your router or internet service modem will have a network port that you can plug into directly with an ethernet cable). You'll go to the manufacturer's website, click on support and search for drivers for your laptop. Be sure to go to the network section and download and install the network driver for your system. Flashing light

Which light flashes, and can you explain it in more detail? Where does it stop? Is it charging? Did you have problems before this one? How old is it and how much use? How often do you defragment data? If what I think it could be is happening, it might be the hard-drive is failing/failed or a BIOS corruption. If its BIOS http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5K_SE/e3202_p5k-se.pdf will help. Look at 4.1.5 pg 74 and it should direct you in a few short steps. If it is not BIOS then its probably hardware, though answer my questions and I can pinpoint it (could be other things)

Hp pavilion zd8000 keeps restarting never even getting to the start operating system

First step: Clean up the air vents (inlet and outlet) and the fan. You can use canned air to clean it up. Second step: Use Windows media (DVD) to reinstall the operating system (it will fix the boot up problem). If the problem persist: use a good working hard drive and install the operating system from scratch.

Pinky red tinge horizontal lines near the taskbar

sounds like your power inverter is going bad. replace power inverter and see how that works. Other issue if not solved is probably lcd screen. Inverter's can be found cheaper used if you use the serial number on your old inverter for searching, seeing as how inverters are often used on many different of machines. FYI.
