When I connect camera to computer, camera window says no camera found

When I connect camera to computer and turn camera on then put it in playback mode, CameraWindow says "no camera found" and the green light on my camera starts flashing. I am trying to learn how to send pictures from my camera to my computer. I have a PowerShot SX50HS.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as PIcasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

SOURCE: Problems with the battery and the flash on my canon powershot A530

Know this is an old post but... Some of The Canon Powershot A530 and A540 cameras are subject to an advisory recall. Seems that a small spring on the battery compartment door can short out the batteries. Suspect this of yours, in that you mentioned that your batteries weren't lasting long. If your camera is on the list, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. SOURCE: Canon Powershot A630 can't download pictures

When you plug the camera in and turn it on do you hear the computer make a sound? If so open My Computer and look for a new drive letter or a camera Icon. If present open that and browse the folders there. If you see your pictures you can simply copy them to My Pictures.

If no sound and no Icon, you may need to reload the drivers. Get the drivers and a manual free downloaded from here

Do what the pros do...use a card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop.

Connect JVC GR-D240ek to vista laptop

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A firewire to USB will not work. It has to be firewire to firewire. A JVC GR-D240ek uses 4-pin, IEEE 1394 compliant Digital Video Connector [DV OUT] to connect a 1394 cable (also known as a FireWire or i.Link cable) to a laptop equipped with an equivalent IEEE 1394 port. Please note that some laptops firewire port could either be 4 pins or 6 pins.

Soon as that connection as shown above is established, you can use Windows Import Video to capture / download the videos.

Other notes (from the same Windows Help link above) :
  • You can also open Windows Import Video by using Windows Movie Maker. After you connect ... your DV camera, and your computer, start Windows Movie Maker, turn on your DV camera, put it into playback mode, and Windows Import Video should open automatically.
  • You can also open Windows Import Video by using Windows Photo Gallery. After you connect ...your DV camera, and your computer, start Windows Photo Gallery, turn on your DV camera, and put it into playback mode. In Windows Photo Gallery, click File, click Import from Camera or Scanner, click your DV camera in the list of devices, click Import, and then follow the instructions.
  • You can also open Windows Import Video by using Windows Live Photo Gallery. (This options requires you to install Windows Live on your computer.) After you connect your...your DV camera, and your computer, start Windows Live Photo Gallery, turn on your DV camera, and put it into playback mode. In Windows Live Photo Gallery, click File, click Import from a camera or scanner, click your DV camera in the list of devices, click Import, and then follow the instructions.
Verify that the laptop's firewire port is 100% up to specs and totally compliant to IEEE 1394.

God luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Connecting to a Vista Computer

Having problems connecting the camera to a Vista computer?

1. Install the camera driver, which can be found from the CD.

2. Turn on the Camera, and change it to "Playback" mode.
3. Connect the camera to the computer using USB port.

4. The LCD display of the camera will turn off automatically, and the computer should say that new hardware is detected.

5. Go to "My Computer", and you should find a new drive saying "Removable disk".

Double click it and you will find your pictures and videos inside the folder. Just copy them to your computer's hard disk.

Good day, I need the software for Sony DSC-S500 to download the photos from the camera to my computor

Sony does not show any available drivers for this camera.

If Vista recognized the camera you may not need drivers.

Turn-on the camera and put it in "playback" mode.
(playback mode is when the camera is set to view photos on the LCD).

Plug in the USB cable to the camera and the computer.

Then use something like My Computer or Windows Explorer
(or whatever Vista calls them now),
and look for a new hard drive.
If you find a new hard drive, that will be the camera.

Please tell me from where i can download DCR-TRV285E driver of sony digital 8 .

If you mean a driver to transfer the video to your computer via firewire (ieee1394), then you are in luck! No driver is needed. As long as you have a correctly installed firewire port on your computer, a firewire connecting cable, and video editing software, you should be able to easily transfer video to your system.
Connect the camera to the computer via the firewire cable.
Turn on the camera.
Put the camera in playback mode.
Startup Windows Movie Maker or iMovie if on a Mac or whatever video program you prefer.
Should be an option for "capture" or "import from camera".
Use that and you are good to go!

Make sure that the camera and the computer are both turned off. Put camera in the playback mode and turn off.
Turn camera and computer on at the same time and open your editing software. The software should then recognize the camera. Press play on the camera and capture on the software screen at the same time.
