When trying to print says enable bidirectional communication

When I go to the properties port tab the enable bidirectional communication block is gray and I can't check it. I have a Lexmark x5250 and Windows Vista. I can get it to scan and save to my computer, make copies, everything put print from my computer. I've tried deleting and adding the printer but alas the "enable bidirectional communication" just sits there all gray taunting me.......

I have a Dell Photo 966 all-in-one printer, and an hp laptop running on Windows 7. I installed the new printer drivers from the website, but when I try to print, it says cannot communicate with printer, enable bidirectional communication. I've gone to the ports tab over and over but it never saves the change. I've tried disabling my Firewall but still no cigar. HELP PLEASE.

Trying to print to a dell photo aio printer 964 from my laptop and it keeps telling me "communication not available; the printer cannot communicate with the computer; please turn on enable...

Bidirectional Printing - A means of printing by a computer printer which prints one line from left to right, then the following line from right to left. Such printing is faster than printing in one direction only, as there is no need to wait for the carriage or other imaging mechanism to return to the left margin before starting a line.
how to enable bi-directional printing.here's how:
  1. -click on start
  2. -click on printers and faxes (control panel->printers and faxes)
  3. -right-click on Dell Photo All in One Printer 964 All-In-One icon
  4. - click on properties
  5. -click on ports tab
  6. -down at the bottom there's a small box before bi-directional support
  7. -tick the box to enable it then click apply,ok
  8. -try printing again

note: in vista , printers and faxes is printers.in win 7 ,it's devices and printers.
and properties in win 7 is printer properties

Last week I installed Windows07 and now my Lexmark printer series 3400 will not print. I keep getting this message: Please turn on Enable Bidirectional Communication setting in tne properties dialog. ...

go to your "printers and faxes" screen. In windows 7, it may just be called printers. You should see your printer listed there. right click on the printer and choose properties. At the top of the next window, there will be several tabs. click on ports. you should see a box that says Enable Bidirectional Support. put a check in that box. If that does not solve it, then contact lexmark about a Windows 7 driver.

Lexmark X2500 is giving Bidirectional communication error message

Make sure that the "Enable Bidirectional Support" checkbox is checked: Go to "Control Panel"->Printers->Right click on the print Object->Properties under "Ports" tab, enable this check box if not already enabled. If you using vista make sure you do this from an "Admin" account, you may also need to select the "Run as Administrator" option after you right click on the "PrintObject".
