Problem Powering On

Open the cover and look for a strip of plastic that the cartridges move along. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DISCONNECT THIS PIECE. If you can access it use a damp cloth to wipe any ink/dirt from this - DO NOT use chemicals as there are markings on this strip that are used for positioning. The slamming is caused because the printer cannot read the cartridge position.

I320 canon printer

Hi, the problem is the print head, it is dirty. Usually this happens when you use "compatible" ink and it cloggs the head. Othertimes can be from dust getting into the printer on dirty paper. You can buy Cleaning Ink cartiridges online which can help remove the dirt. If you google search for: "i320 cleaning " you will see these for sale. You can also trty cleaning the Heads yourself with warm water and a lint free cloth but this can be fiddly and messy.

Every time I try to

In this printer the head is separate from the cartridges and in a single block. The cartridges go in it and the block goes in the print head carrier. Because of that in time the connections between the head block and the carrier gets dirty and the heads can no longer communicate and be recognized by the mainboard of the printer.
To clean those contacts remove the cartridges and lift the grey lever that holds the print head block secure in the carrier - the lever goes up from the front and to the rear. Now just tilt the bloc forward and lift it up. With a rough piece of paper wash and clean the contacts at the rear of the block; then take a q-tip and clean the contact pins from the carrier. At the end put all back together and try again.
If the heads are still not recognized then the dirt has corroded the contacts. This is unfixable and because there are no replacement parts it means that the printer is dead. Time for a new one.

Orange light flashes 7 times.

Hi,
When lights flash on the printer this means that there is an error and the printer is not ready to print.
You can use the BJ Monitor application to see what the error is.
To open the BJ Monitor application, click the fixitguynz_1.gif icon in the System Tray

Printer working but nothing printed

Hi,

How do you know its working? Did you check your ink levels? Try checking it, your ink may have finished. Also try printing a test page. If it still doesn't work, try reinstalling your print cartridges.

Document doesn't print with new

tigallant,

It would certainly not be a bad thing to do a manual cleaning. If this problem just started when the cartridges were replaced there are several possiblilities.

Now days inkjet cartridges are being refilled and sometimes sold as new units. My experience has been that sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. If manually cleaning the cartridges does not work I would return them to the store you purchased them from and exchange them for another set. I have never had a store turn me down on this.

If the next units do not work either I would go to Cannon's website at http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support where you can input your model number and download a new version of the driver for your printer. This may require a restart to install.

This should solve your problem.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

I have a message coming saying the printer head

First check for foreign objects in the printer cartridge area or a loose print head.

Then there are two possibilities if it was a Printhead error. You can replace the printhead. Order one from Canon support: 1-800-828-4040 Monday-Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 midnight. EST, excluding holidays. Say Order Parts to be connected to the Parts Desk. Be sure to have your model number (i320) or part number (QY6-0044-000) ready for the sales person. This is a non-returnable item. The other option is that the entire printer needs repair (professional service).

You can't tell which issue you have until you try a new printhead.

I wish that I could be of more help.
