If your washer won't spin, check these:

It doesn't pump or spin
It pumps, but doesn't spin
It spins only with the lid closed
It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:

  • If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

  • If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these:

  • The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

  • The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

  • A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.)

  • The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.

  • The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.

  • The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.

It spins only with the lid closed For safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

SOURCE: installing new washer and plug is stuck inside washer.

On this unit you will need to removed the shipping bolts before the plug will release. It is so important that these bolts be removed that the manufacture designed the plug to be stuck inside until all 4 bolts are properly removed.

The installation guide will have instruction on how to properly remove or post a comment to this if you have questions and I will do my best to address them.

SOURCE: Amana NFW7200TW washer - door seal ring has detached

The ring is a clamp that keeps the rubber part, called the bellow, attached to the front panel of the washer. To reinstall hook the edge of the bellow around the lip of the opening in the front panel (the hole through which you put your laundry). Then take the clamp and seat it in the groove of the bellow behind the lip of the front panel. The spring on the clamp should pull the bellow tight to the opening of the panel.

What does the code d5 mean on an Amana Front Load Washing Machine?

That is probably a door lock error. It could be that the door was not completely closed while running. A piece of clothing might be stuck in the doorway. The lock mechanism may have failed. It could also be that the lock position sensor didn't communicate properly with the washer control board.

Note: if the error was 5d, that indicates "suds". Too much detergent was in the machine. Try running the washer with no clothing or detergent added.

Please add a comment with the model number of your washer for a parts list/diagram. I hope this helps.

Amana washer gives code nd

This washer has a FATAL defect in its design: if the washer fails to drain, there is NO WAY to override the door lock. So Amana warranty service will tell you, wait 4+ days for service or force the door.

My 8 hr delay button is stuck on help!

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that the 8 hour delay button is stuck on your Frigidaire washer, model# GLTF530DS. With the model number that you have provided, I do not show that there is an 8 hour delay button. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and start any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your washer status has changed successfully. If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please leave me the model number of your appliance. Typically this can be found either on the back of the door or around the edges where the door meets your washer. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Door open wont washer

Possibly some foreign object has worked it's way down into the drain pump, preventing the washer from draining. all the way. (If the washer doesn't drain properly, the door will remain locked).

One way is to take the drain hose out of the wall connection, lower it to floor level & allow it to gravity drain. (Be sure to catch the water in a pan or something). Once the washer has drained, the lid should open.

If this fixed the problem, the pump still has something in it. You will need to remove the back of the washer and check to see what's blocking the discharge pump.
Remove the back of the washer, remove the hose running to the drain pump, remove the pump itself & remove and debris clogging the pump.

Otherwise a service call runs somewhere between $100 - $175.

Amana tandem 7300 stopped ,door is locked wash light is beeping

Door won't unlock
Did all of the water drain out of the washer during the spin? Select DRAIN & SPIN to remove any water remaining in the washer. The washer door will unlock at the end of the drain.
Is the door locked and is the "Add Garment" light on? Press START/PAUSE once. The door will unlock.

Door won't open

the lock switch is probably stuck. make sure machine is off but plugged in still. Push in on the door while gently giving a couple of thumps around the lock area and the lock will probably "click" open.
