SOURCE: Need drivers for Canon MP530

The clicking noise is because your telephone line cord (from the wall) should be plugged into the "L:" port on the machine -- not the port with the icon of a phone next to it.

If you're not using a telephone cord, make sure your USB cord is not plugged into the telephone jack on the machine (it has been known to happen).

Don't know of any sources for Linux drivers.

SOURCE: Error 5100 for canon mp530

I would do all of the following and see if yo can clear this code. It is not on any Canon list of possible codes, so I have no idea what it means., but let's do this:

Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Remove the print cartridges. Look at them, are they leak free? Look into the cartridge holders. Are they clean?. Dried ink or blobs should be cleaned off with a little alcohol and a qtip.

Are the little wire holders bent or broken? Do they look exactly the same?

Turn the printer back on reinstall the cartridges.Check in your printer preferences/services and clean your cartridges.

Now turn it off again and unplug it. Open the paper jam door and gently push the paper roller forward until it clicks. At the same time, look for even the tiniest scrap of anything in there.
Close the paper jam door and plug your printer back in. Restart your computer.

If the problem is not solved. You may need to reinstall the printer. Do You have your original disc? Be sure to do a clean install. ( Turn off all running programs in the lower right corner including your virus control. Also go to Toolbar>tools>internet options>general>and delete all you cookies and temporary internet files.) Turn off and unplug your printer.

Reinstall the software. When it is finished if it has not told you to plug your print back in do so now. Restart your computer and turn your printer on.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

SOURCE: The printer flashes orange light five times, and green once

Probably your waste ink counter. Should be cleaned or replaced before resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER

0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.

This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

You have a choice of putting paper in the drawer underneath or the feeder in the back, make sure paper is loaded in the one you want to use and you have selected the right source.

Printer will not print

I assume you are using 'compatible' Cartridges ?

Many people have reported problems with the 'chips' (especially the Yellow one) you have to move from the original to the 'compatible' set .

If you are feeling rich, you could buy a set of genuine Canon cartridges, however that's going to cost you over £50 with no guarantee of a fix .. you might want to shop around for a new printer instead - you should be able to find the MP530 for about £150 .... http://www.twenga.co.uk/prices-Pixma-MP530-CANON-Multi-function-printer-16288-0

Canon mp530 printer

With the power on to machine and it turned on, open scanner lid by lifting entire top upwards(operations panel lifts up), cartridge mechanism should move to the left to allow cartridge removal, push cartridges down to remove.
