Resolution and color depth are the 2 main factors that determine the size.
Scan in black & white, and reduce the resolution to 150 dpi, that should give you very small PDFs.

I scan text pages at 30kb with my HP 5610 in PDF.

I am trying to scan a multiple page document into a single pdf document on my HP C7280 but it scans each page to individual images. Any suggestions?

In Adobe Acrobat:-
From 'File' select 'Create PDF', 'from Scanner'.
Scan the first page and the program will ask of you for 'Next' or 'Done'.
Select 'Next' until you have scanned the last page, then select 'Done'.
You can also make the document searchable by carrying out an OCR on it under 'Documents', 'Recognise text under OCR', 'Start'.

I changed the settings from duplex (double sided) scanning to simplex (single sided) scanning under the settings tab in the scansnap organiser. this was ok since i had all one-sided documents to scan. you would need to reverse this settings change anytime you have a double-sided document to scan.

How do I Scan a doucment with my HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet

Sir,
open HP director click SCAN DOCUMENT set scan for editable text YES set original contains graphics NO if it doesn't, YES if it does (no results in smaller file) if you want to create a PDF file, leave SCAN TO set to SAVE TO FILE if you want to create a word document, change SCAN TO to MICROSOFT WORD click SCAN click ACCEPT (bottom right) tell it NO if you're done, YES if you want to scan something else If you scan more than one thing all of your scans will end up in a single multi-page file rename & save file to permanent location as you would normally.

Scanning multiple pages as a single document

The pages you scan in are each individual "pictures" which are very different than the text in the everyday word processing file. What you can do is to make a new word processing document and insert each of the scanned pictures into this new document in order. This will allow you to print all the pages in one job by printing the word processing document. As far as I know there is no way to scan all of the pages into one single file.

Scan a Multipage Document into a Single File

My scanner is a Cannon but the basic jist of what your trying to do is universal. You need to open up the software for the scanner and look for an icon that says scan to file. It sounds like you have already done this. If so you are very close in the step I mention to the setting you need to scan multiple pages into one PDF file. Once you find the setting to scan multiple pages be sure to not click "FINISHED" until your last page is scanned in.

Scanning

Hi,

Did you tried with any OCR software to convert the Scanned imaged (jpeg) to Word Documen?.Always if you scan anything to an image, it will scan in JPEG format that will consume lot of memory.Scan with OCR(Optical Character Recognition) Software and that will Convert JPEG to word Document which will fix the problem.
The OCR software that i Recommend is ABBY Fine Reader.

Thanks
