SOURCE: unable to get printer to print
Go to www.hp.com and let the website auto-detect your printer
SOURCE: Was able to use printer "wirelessly", now must use USB cable
first of all check whether the printer is on a network or not by printing a network confirguration page..to print a network confirguration..1.press the setup button..2.scroll down to option to network press OK..3. then it says view network settings press OK..4. then it says print network confirguration page..the page that prints you will see IP Address of the printer..
now come to the computer..open command prompt..type PING and then the IP address of the printer..if you get a message packets sent=4, recieved=4 ,lost=0 then it is on a network..otherwise turn off the printer computer and the router..wait for 5mins and then turn on the router wait for 3mins then the printer wait for 3mins..and then the computer..then try to PING..
and go to the printers folder you would see the icon of the printer..right click on it go to properties..and in the properties screen you would see a tab which says ports..under ports check for which option does the printer is been check..if it is checked for USB then the printer will not print..if it is checked for TCP/IP then it is fine..
if it is checked for USB then you need to do add a device by inserting the software CD..if it says TCP/IP then got to the setup folder in the Software CD..you would see a folder UTIL..open that then you would see CCC..open that then you need to select uninstall_L2..once the uninstallation is complete..restart the computer..and then start the installation.printer would be detected on a network..installation would be successfull..then try printing a test page..that would print

Try removing all ports from your laptop, then reboot, and then create just one USB port. Also, go to your hardware devices and make sure your usb ports don't have any question marks or yellow warning symbols. Be sure first that the drivers for your USB ports are installed and working first. This sounds either a faulty USB cord, which does happen, or USB drivers issues in your laptop. The printer is probably not the problem here.
