Flash sequences around 13 to 15 are usually faults with ink cartridges or cartridge recognition and often indicate a faulty print head. Flashes of 17 or more are designated as service errors and usually require turning the machine off and back on in the vain hope the problem will miraculously disappear.
First check your ink cartridges are not empty and are clean, likewise the cartridge socket is clean. If not - clean or replace as needed and test again.
If there is no obvious problem with the cartridge, you should probably consider replacing the machine.
count the number of orange flashes in between the green light. two flashes = out of paper, 3=paper jam, 4=empty ink tank, 6=print head not installed, 7=print head defective, 8=waste ink tank is almost full
According to Canon 7 orange flashes indicates a print head fault. Solution they recommend is to take it to one of their service agents. Problem is that replacement print heads are not cheap and it is usually more economical to replace the printer. You could try taking the print head to a cartridge refiller and have it professionally cleaned (cost you nothing or next to nothing) and see if that solves the problem.
