When turning the computer and the monitor on, the computer powers up, but the monitor goes to standby mode, says no signal and never displays anything. The monitor works fine connected to another computer so I know the problem is within the emachines computer.

You posted: press the monitor to start my computer
What do you mean? Pressing the monitor power button will not start your computer, you must press the power button on the computer itself. I think you did not mean this, but I don't know. For more free in-depth help go to www.suggest-a-fix.com
which is a free computer help forum that I belong to. Post in the Hardware section and I (or someone else) will be along. This forum is not set up for complicated problems that require detailed, in-depth communications.
In regards to your issue with your monitor: For a monitor to display "no signal input" there is likely a problem with the monitor making a connection to your input source (yes I know duh). First and easiest thing to fix this is to check your cables going between your computer and monitor, if your computer and monitor start out working and then fail to communicate, there is a good chance that the cable might be coming loose just enough that the connection fails. I might suggest that if you have, as you say another computer, that you try swapping monitors to check where the problem lies.
Usually a monitor goes into standby if there is no signal or input. If all the cables are connected with the computer on, the monitor should trigger on when in standby. If not then there is either a problem with the video output of the computer, or a problem with the monitor itself. Try another monitor with the computer to determine where the problem lies.
Hope this Helps

Turn the television on and as soon as the screen turns on repeatily press the input button or change the input to whatever input you are using from a source device. As long as you change it to anything other than RGB.
Your television is essentially a big computer monitor with multiple inputs and a tuner. When using your computer and shutting it down the monitor will go in a power save mode. You don't need to shut off your monitor due to this power saving mode. When you power up your computer your monitor automatically turn on.
With the VIZIO and the RGB (computer) input the television will act just like a computer monitor. When you have a computer connected it will power down automatically when you shut off your computer. When you turn your computer on the VIZIO will automatically come out of standby mode. This is through RGB only.
This is normal operation for the VIZIO but can see confusing when nothing is connected to the RGB input. If you change your television input to RGB it will sense no signal on the input and will go into standby mode after about 5 - 10 seconds. If you were to send a signal to the television through RGB it would automatically kick on.
Have similar TV. If it is set to the PC source, it goes into standby when there is no signal, like a regular monitor. Even though the monitor is in standby, you can still press the Source button to change to, say, HD input, and will use the familiar on/off action when pressing Power on the remote.
It could be your monitor is fine. It simply goes to a cycle when its turned on and does not detect any signal coming from your CPU, it simply goes on standby mode (hence the darker image and orange/blinking light.) have you checked the computer (CPU) part?
make sure the video cable is inserted firmly. is it is, the video cable wires are loose inside the monitor which it is not getting the signal, telling it to go on standby mode.
