SOURCE: i dont understand what it means by...

I beleive what they are asking you to do is to bring up the bobbin thread to the top of the throat plate( which cover the bobbin area, to do this you hold the top thread end and manually turn the wheel to engage the bobbin thread and bring it to the top of the throatplate, now you should be ready to sew

SOURCE: needle will not pick up the bobbin thread, gets

Oh boy! I've worked on industrial sewing machines for over 30 years, but the home sewing machines are like comparing cadillacs to mopeds. No offense, but if you want performance out of a machine try an industrial. It will shock you with the difference. Be glad to help you find the right one.
Anyway, the problem you are having is quite common. First, make sure it is threaded right especially the moving spring on the needle thread tension) and the needle is new. This generally covers 75% of the problem. Make sure the bobbin thread is threaded correctly.
If you are still having the problem remove the bobbin/bobbin case and observe the needle/hook point relationship as you turn the handwheel. The hook point should pass behind the needle at the scarf of the needle (indention just above eye of needle) If it is not so the needle bar may have moved up on you. Did the machine get jammed?
I'm not sure about the rod you're talking about but lets try this first.

My machine will not pick up the bobbin thread

Install a brand new needle (verify it is facing the proper direction).

Remove all the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading. Rethread the machine from the beginning--verify the thread path is correct. Leave at least 4-6" of thread tail. from the needle (Avoid using old or bargain bin thread.)

Insert the bobbin in the bobbin case (make sure the bobbin is turning the correct direction) and thread the bobbin case. Load the bobbin case in the machine. Leave at least 4-6" of thread tail.

Set the upper tension to the midway point.

Retest your machine. Turn the handwheel toward you manually until the needle completes one full cycle of going down and up.

If it is still not picking up the bobbin thread, it may have a needle/hook timing issue. Take it for service.

The needle thread breaks
1. The needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is too tight
3.the needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted into the needle holder
5. The needle thread and the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting sewing
6. The threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either too heavy or too fine for the needle

THREAD POPS

Is it perhaps poor quality thread? Avoid old or bargain bin threads,. Also, might try a brand new needle of the type suitable for your thread and fabric. Have you verified the needle eye is the correct size for the thread?

Top thread will not work ive tryed changing needles is there a special needle to use

the needle used depends on the fabric being sewed. the needle must move thru the needles eye smoothly.
make sure the machine is threaded correctly, using every thread guide
make sure also the bobbin is wound correctly and that the bobbin is inserted into the bobbin case correctly, if the bobbin is turned the wrong way the machine wil not sew

My Singer Izek has stopped picking up the bobbin. It seems that what ever mechanisim that usually grabs the bobbin is not grabbing.

Try a new needle, sometimes the needle gets bent and will not pick up the thread. I hope that is it because, if not, you probably need a technician to set the timing. Good luck

The bobbin thread is not catching. I have rethreaded the entire machine multiple times, tried different bobbins, etc. However, the needle and thread are not catching the bobbin thread. The bobbin thread is...

try a new needle
make sure the bobbin is not warped
make sure the bobbin case area is free of lint or loose thread
make sure you hold the upper thread tail while it's going down to pick up the bobbin thread
make sure there is a 2 to 4 in tail for the upper thread to grab

Brother sewing machine cs6000i. Less than one year. The upper thread wraps around the bobbin caseing and jams.

check you tension on the top thread and see if you have it threaded the right way. Also see if the indent of your needle "the indent down by the hole on the needle" is facing the hook by your bobbin case that grabs the thread when it comes around.

Picking up bobbin thread

First easy thing to check, are you using the correct length needle.
If this is not the problem then somehow the needle bar has moved and the the needle depth is to high or the timing is wrong..
Unless you really know what you are doing then I am afraid a sewing machine tech needs to reset the needle depth and subsequently the timing.
