dear strawberree - have you removed the flat bed, leaving free arm? the control for the feed dogs is on the bottom facing you. the left button drops them and the arrow, dial thingy on the right brings them up. please tell me where i can get a cheep izek. my gameboy and software were stolen in a home invasion. i can only straight sew now. tks, good luck.

Have you removed the feed dogs and bobbin to check if material or thread is packed underneath?

Sandy, I'm not familiar with IZEK machines, but it sounds like the bobbin winder has not correctly disengaged. Put it back into bobbin winding mode and run it (no need to wind a bobbin, just check that the bobbin winder turns), then stop and disengage the bobbin winder and try sewing again. Hope this solves it for you. If it won't turn the bobbin winder either then it may have slipped or broken the drive belt and you will need to take it to your local sewing centre.

This indicates a thread break, but if thread is not broken I would rethread the top as there is a thread break sensor on the take up spring that could have been missed in threading. If that does not solve then I would have a look at take up spring and attached sensor

I went to a site who has downloadable user manuals, they did not have one for a Singer contessa 974. Please be sure you have the correct number of this machine, and then call or otherwise ask the site administrator for the manual. You could also try the Singer site looking for the correct model number.

Call Singer customer service at 1-800-4singer and it could be a computer board problem, if your speed control switch is in the right position

have you tried changing the needle?sometime when a machine will not stitch, the machine could be out of time& you'd have to take it to a sewing machine shop to have it retimed
