Got up this AM ,no TV , went to bed last night TV was fine - question , I have no picture , red led blinks - I have counted the blinks - once it blinked 4 times , and then there was 6 times , and I believe it also blinked as many as 7 times ( the LED that is ) , I've unplugged it waited 1 minute ,it sounds like it wants to turn on , but then doesn't and the led starts blinking - I've called Sony , they asked me if the orange indicater light was on , ( I assume thats the indicator between the off/on switch and red led light ) there was no ornge light on , as I can remember , there was never an orange indicater light on - I thought it was the reciever for the remote - they told me to call a repairman - this TV was given to me about 4 months ago ,it worked fine ,till now , my question would be , is there anyway to bypass anything that may get this TV up and working again ? otherwise , paying someone to repair it maybe a waste of money and time ,unless it can be done under a hundred dollars , I just may have a very heavy boat anchor here .
Blinking of standby LEDs to Sony TVs are fault indications. Form the number of blinks occur at one time, the repairman can get an idea of the faulty stage inside it. According to you, it blinks 4,6 & 7. Just visit this site, It has details about blinking codes to Sony TVs, both CRT based, Flat panels and Plasmas. I can't provide more advice to you, because the number of blinks are not constant. Check the site, and get it.

Hello maymet,
This sounds like the HV protection circuit is cutting off the TV due to a high current event in the set. This could be a problem in the High Voltage section of your TV (Horizontal output transistor, Integrated High Voltage Transformer, and y of the deflection components, and or the CRT in cases of shorts).
I would suggest that if you do not have a background in electronics, you should have an experienced TV technician troubleshoot and repair this problem.
This is due to the nature of the dangerous voltages that are present in the television.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,
Shuttle83

I
have over 10 years experience in electronic tech
support.
I
know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've
described can't be fixed with troubleshooting.
Your TV
will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect
and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be
repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least
one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you
purchased an extended service
plan
they will repair the TV at no charge as well.
If the TV is no
longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and
labor. This is assuming that you only need one circuit
board
or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards,
the price of repair could go much higher.
I hope I've provided
you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an
informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to
vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you
today.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

if you have the circuit diagram of your tv,check the horizontal polarisation IC closer to the line transformer and replace it.If it doesn't work, send the question again.
