Hp cq60 keybord not working it beeping

• the laptop in and says it "all of a sudden" shut down, and when she booted it back up it gave the options to "start in repair mode" or "start normally" but everytime she hit enter it wouldnt do anything. (Thats all she told me before I looked at it) When I looked at it, I plugged it up (since it was dead) and turned it on. It loaded the screen giving me the the same types of options. I realized the keyboard did not work, so i got another keyboard and plugged it up through usb port. I hit enter to repair. It begins loading and then it begins making a continuous beeping noise. This noise does not stop until I power off the computer. I then attempt to start in safe mode, but when it gets about half way through "loadin windows files" it begins making the beeping noise again. I power it back down, pull out the battery and check it out, screw off the cover to where the memory is and check it out, and then I remove the cover to the hard drive. I then see some type of an oily substance around the inside of the cover, but I dont see any on/by the hard drive. My thinking is she has most likely spilled something on the computer. Can anyone give me any other ideas or help me verify the problem?

Hi,

Myself Srikanth, I am tech support eng at HP. At this point, I recommend you to contact the HP service center if it is under Accidental damage warranty which covers liquid spills. Or if you are computer savy, you can remove the keyboard laptop keyboard connection and check with the external keyboard. This issue will occer when any liquid spilled on keyboard and some of the keys were attached to the circuit. If the external keyboard worked fine then just send me the keyboard part number i will help you to purchase the new keyboard.

Thank you
Srikanth

hi blinkgirl556

was there a new hardware that was added to your laptop? bluescreens often are caused by hardware.
while the laptop is booting up when you are asked for options on how to start you computer is there an option for start windows using last known configuration? if there is try that and if it still goes into bluescreen you may want to try and recover your laptop using the hp recovery cd or recovery tool. if it still doesn't work most likely you have a bad memory chip.

hope this helps

I replaced the internal battery on my cq60 and it's been 3 days and the same warning messge is back. Any ideas what is wrong?

HP laptop appear error message during the booting such as wireless 701, coms, keyboard LED blink, shutdown etc. you may try to update newly bios version first. it could be fix:
1) download new version bios at HP support,
2) run its for windows version at laptop windows if laptop booting in windows well
3) run its DOS version at winpe which boot at DVD if laptop could not come in windows itself.
if it is not fix, it is could be SB bridge issue, at most AMD SB+NB bridge.

Keybord not working hp cq60

Well, oily is not good. Try reseating the RAM, and HP often recommends using a can of air to blow it free of dust.

The solution is in the beeps. Check which BIOS manufacturer you during boot.

Cq60-615dx power problem

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.

When i try to open the only respond i get was the continue blinking of the laptop no picture is benig showned in the monitor

Shut down your laptop and try pressing the center of the keybord just center of your screen firmly gently and then start the system if its ok the display comes back you are having problem with the heat sensor of the display card and not coooling properly .so loosing the display.
BUT if you mean there is a cursor blinking on the screen and dosent have display then your boot devices are configured improperly and so its searching for boot device .
also it happens when usb boot is enable in the bios and any usb device is connnected like flash or usb hard drive try to remove them and restart the pc.

Compaq Presario CQ60 recovery disc how to use

insert the disc into the drive, restart the computer. If it doesn't boot from disc, restart again.
As it restarts, press and hold F8(may be F2 or F12 depending on the settings)until the boot options screen appears. Using the arrow up/down keys select drive "d" or what ever drive letter represents the drive you put the disc into.
It will now(or should) continue to boot from the disc, follow the onscreen instructions to restore.

On shutting down my laptop it gave the message, "installing 1 of 1" do not turn off your computer. It did not turn off all night. I turned it off by using the on/off button then shut it down...

When you start your laptop, press F8. You will get a menu (Normal boot, Reboot...). Choose Last good known configuration (something like that).

HP Pavilion Laptop dead?

Try unplugging laptop and take the battery out. Put battery back in and plug back in. If that doesn't work It would recommend taking it to a professional. The good news is that your data on your hard drive should be okay.
