The print out is pale because the print quality is on draft mode.make it to normal mode to get dark copy.or make it to best mode to get even extra dark copy.you can check out the print quality option in the printer properties.

Follow the step listed below for cleaning the laser glass:

1. Turn off the power switch and open the front cover.

2. Lift the drum unit slightly and pull it out. Place the drum unit on a
drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.

3.With the drum removed from the machine, clean the laser glass with a
DRY cloth. The laser glass is located on the roof inside in the machine
where the drum unit is installed. DO NOT use isopropyl alcohol or any
liquid to clean the glass

4. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the lock
lever (purple tab) on the right side of the drum unit and lift the toner
out.
*Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands
or clothes, immediately wipe it off and wash with cold water.

5. Gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side five or six times
to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge. Then, reset the
toner into the drum (be sure it clicks into place).

6. Reset drum unit in the machine.

7. Close the front cover, pressing firmly on each side until the cover
clicks into place..

Then try to print ,Is this original brother cart...

Check whether you have placed the cartridge properly .

If it is not seated properly you will face problem like this .

  • Anonymous Nov 25, 2008

Clean the rollers, reinsert the ink cartridges and reset the
printer. Take a test page to ensure that everything works fine .

If you still have problem remove the print head and check the base
whether it is clogged with ink. Clean it and place it properly and
plug back the power chord to printer and take a test page .

This will solve your problem .

Lexmark x7170 changed ink cartridge. test sheet comes up great, print something and it says ink low. i tried to shut off 5x's to maybe reset/ reinstalled ink cartridges same message. cleaned heads

The Lexmark x7170 should let you continue printing with the ink cartridge regardless of the estimated ink with most cartridges. The only exception to this is if the cartridges are part of Lexmark's returns programme. I would advise removing the cartridge and checking for small text stating "Return Programme Cartridge" on the label. If this is present sadly there is no way of continuing, apart from buying a new cartridge.

With regards to the low ink estimate, am I right in assuming you are using a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge? If so this is unavoidable but should not prevent you from printing until the ink physically runs out.

Just changed the yellow cartridge. The printer says it's full. No ink. Same thing with last cartridge. Tried deep cleaning.

Ok I understand the printer says its full but are you saying your computer says no ink? or that it prints no yellow ink?

Ok assuming you mean that it prints no yellow ink, the culprit ususally means that the print head needs replacing! Call Canon with your model and you can buy the part for new print heads for your printer

My black ink will not print. If I change the colour, it prints find. It is a new cartridge.

First you need to ensure that this is not a driver problem, by reinstalling drivers and testing the printer on a different computer.

Also ensure that ink cartridges are OK, try replacement inks.

If the problem is not a software problem, and the printer is recognised by computer, and the printout is coming as a blank or faded page, then you usually have a faulty or clogged printhead.

Try first performing print head cleaning procedure from printer tools, that may not fix the problem, but do the cleaning a couple of times, just in case.

If the print head is clogged, that can be fixed soaking the print head in isopropyl alcohol overnight.

If still no luck, then the printhead must be replaced, here is the part: Canon MULTI-PASS F-80 Print Head $61.00

After changing the blank ink cartridge a test print was done. Now every time I switch the printer on to print a page I get another test print page before i can print what I need to print. This is stressful...

hi my name is pete and hope you are not stressing out to much here how you fix your printer when you change a blank ink carriage and stop printing off test prints you will notice on the back of the inks theres a chip something like what you would find on a visa card now the printer uses these chips to reconise the carriages are there so the ink will work now unplug the printer from the computer and switch off the printer from the mains leave for 10 minutes so it can reset the inks for you after doing so plug the printer back in but dont plug into computer yet let the printer set it self up when ready plug back in to computer open programme you use and find out if the test page is on or got a tick on it if so click it off and then try to print anymore problems let me know

Canon bjc-80 - no print appears but cartridge & paper move normally

I had this problem too. It turned out there was old dry ink in there clogging up the printerhead and it was fixed after I ran the cleaning programme several times. However I can't for the lifeof me remember how to do that now. I know I found it online but it has since vanished. Maybe check your manual?
