Restore Toshiba to Out of the Box Condition
If your model Toshiba laptop has a Restore partition on the hard drive then follow these steps to restore your Toshiba to the Out of the Box condition.

Hi there, Your ac adapter is damaged & that's why power does not transfer in your notebook. The capacitor of adapter is burned & that's why the noise started. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

This fault is most likely from some worn capacitors in the vertical output section. An experienced service tech can troubleshoot the set, locate the defective capacitors, and change them for you.

I know yours is a Toshiba and the following is for Dell, but both are laptops - mine did not start for over a week! See this thread:

X-box Sounds like it could be a bad inverter board, Toshiba p/n#72001911 and they cost about $35 plus shipping... This is a common failure with this model causing anything from intermittent shutdown to simple loss of video. Get it in the shop and have them check it out. Might also take the part number with you so they don't have to research it... Good Luck Bill
