If you are sure the charger is OK, then the possible cause could be the battery or the power jack.Take the battery out, and plug in the charger, if your laptop works, then the power jack is OK, you need to replace the battery; If not, then it proves the power jack is broken, it need to be resoldered or placed. Or you could directly test your battery with a digital multimeter.

SOURCE: Targus ac70u adapter; 0% available, ( plugged in, not charging )

Is the Tagus adapter your original adapter?
Check the adapter wih a multimeter to see if the voltage output is or slightly greater than what is printed on the label.
The adapter may not have sufficient amps to charge the battery and run the laptop, check the current rating of the original adapter and compare it with the Targus, it should be the same voltage and current rating or higher current rating.
If the adapter is OK then the battery is worn out and needs to be replaced. Recharageable batteries have only a limited number of charge and discharge cycles, when this is reached they just don't work any more. Buy a new battery, not a 2nd hand one because of the reasons I've mentioned.

SOURCE: wont charge

The most common cause of this is the input jack being broken off of the mother board. There is a fair amount of stress on the jack which is surface mounted onto the motherboard. It is common for the connection to break off. This can be fixed easily by anyone that works on surface mounted equipment. Please note that the laptop will need to be dis-assembled to gain access to the area that needs repair. This is a fairly involved process and should not be attempted by someone not familiar with laptops. Expect to pay around $100 for this repair. No parts should be required.

SOURCE: acer aspire 5920 wont start. light in AC chrger

This is a sample of what you can try to do to diagnose a non-starting computer, If these don’t work, realize that most likely a system board (motherboard) has failed or the actual power trim strip above the keyboard has failed.

  1. Unplug the computer, then take the battery out, push the power button and hold it for about 30 seconds. Plug the system back in (leave battery out) and push the power button. If it starts, Great! If not unplug go to the next step.
  2. You should still have the battery out and the power unplugged. Now turn the laptop over. Take off all the covers and pull out the hard drive and ram and wireless card. Find the screw that has a symbol kind of like this its the CD rom drive screw. Now pull the drive out. Pick one stick of ram and put it back in the computer. Flip it over open it plug it in and hit the power button. If it does not fire up then unplug it and switch the ram. Plug it back in and hit the power button again. If it doesn't start up, unplug the computer and go to the last step.
  3. Pull the memory out and find the screws that hold the keyboard on. There are symbols in the plastic there should be 2 screws holding it in. Now in the battery compartment, there are several screw at the back edge of the computer take them out and also the ones in the battery in the center strip. Some are silver and some are black. Once you have the screws out of the battery area flip the computer over and open the lid. The strip just below the LCD with the power button and controls will now be able to be lifted up. You will probably have to lightly get an edge started before it will come up. There should be several little cables hooked to it. Flip the control panel over and look for some screws holding the keyboard in. I think there's 2. Lift up the keyboard. Making sure there's nothing touching anything important and then plug the computer in. Carefully hit the power button and see if the computer tries to start. If it does try it will probably beep at you. Unplug it and put a stick of ram in it. Plug it in and try to start it again. If not, unplug the computer and Go to the next step.
  4. Carefully put the keyboard and control strip in place. Flip the computer over and loosen all the screws that hold the computer together. Flip the computer over again and pull the keyboard and control strip up again. Flex the inner aluminum plate that was under the keyboard lightly. Plug in the computer and then hit the power button. If it tries to start, Great! put it together again in the reverse process.
If it does not, there are 2 possible things I would suspect the Control strip or the mainboard. If you don't get the computer to start back up please put it back together so you remember where all the screws go. Even if you plan to get another mainboard put it back together.

Power is plugged in , battery is plugged in not charging with 0% available

If your battery will not charge, you need to run a test on some components on the laptop. The battery, the charger and the laptop itself. Once you detect the faulty conponent then you replace it with a new one.

To test the battery:
1.Power off the laptop,
2.Take out the battery,
3.Insert it in another laptop,
4.Check of it will charge,

If the battery holds a charge there, then it means the problem is not from the battery, but if it does not hold a charge, then it means the battery is defective and need to be replaced with a new one.

To test the charger:
1.Unplug the charger from the present laptop,
2.Connect it to another laptop to see if it will charge.

If it charges the laptop, then it means the charger is alright, and if it does not charge the laptop, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced.

To test the laptop:
1.Turn off the laptop,
2.Disconnect your present charger,
3.Remove your present battery pack,
4.Insert a well tested battery into the laptop,
5.Connect a well tested charger to the laptop.

If it powers on, then it and charges, then it means the laptop is working fine, but if it does not charge, then it means the connection port of the laptop is bad.Hope this information was helpful.

BATTERY DOESN'T CHARGE ON MY ACER ASPIRE ONE MOD#KAV60

Sounds like the battery might be bad. Try another battery in the laptop and see if it charges. If it does then you know the other battery is bad.
If you try another known working battery and it still wont charge, then try another AC Adapter. If you still cant get the laptop battery to charge then at that point the motherboard is bad because you will have tried another working batter and another working ac adapter.

first try to use your charger into another laptop, if the the another laptop was charged using your charger, it means your battery is the problem, but if it is still not charging it means the problem is your charger. then try your battery to use it into another laptop, as same as the i mention in the charger, if they or both fine, maybe the problem is the batery terminal of your laptop.

Acer aspire 5520 wont power up.. no charging light when connected to mains

Try another charger. If it turns on and chargers the unit you are currently using needs to be replaced. Do not leave your charger plugged in after charging your battery as this will shorten its life.
