Kenmore refrigerator model 253 not getting cold

Quite simple neither the refrigerator or the freezer section is getting cold. I changed the temperature settings and waited 24hrs and still no change. I pulled the refrigerator away from the wall and felt the compressor and it was extremely hot to the touch. Note: The Fan is running I am getting air in both the refrigerator and freezer.

I have a Kenmore 253.52342301. Same problem. I've cleaned the condenser coils. The condensor fan is running. It appears as though the compressor is operating (I hear a click then a "whining" noise). However, the compressor is very hot to touch. I'm assuming this is normal... Please advise.

Its not getting cold

MAKE SURE THE FANS ARE RUNNING FREEZER AND COMPRESSOR, THEN CHECK THE BACK WALL OF THE FREEZER IF ITS FROSTED UP YOU HAVE A DEFROST ISSUE. IF THE COMPRESSOR AND FANS ARE WORKING AND NO FROST IN THE FREEZER THATS NOT A GOOD THING..

FREEZER IS COLD AND MAKING ICE BUT REFRIGERATOR IS WARM

Sounds like the beginning of a simple defrost problem. The only problem I see is I don't know which model you have. With a number that looks like this 326.265897 for example only. Find that and I will help you get it going again. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Freezer wont freeze and fridge isn't cold enough

Check the refrigerant level, using the systems analyzer.
From the analyzer, you will know if the high and low side of the compressor has the right pressure. If you
don't have the analyzer, then just get the services of
the refrigerator/freezer technician to fix it.

Refrigerator not cool, freezer ok

Either the freezer continues to freeze up (most likely due to low refrigerant, due to a leak), or there is an obstruction between the freezer and the refrigerator (refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer).

Given that it works after you defrost it, I'm going with low gas. Call a professional to see if the leak can be fixed. If the unit is more than 10 years old, just get a new one.

I have a Kenmore refrigerator (model 253.63732300) with freezer on top. The freezer section is cold but the lower section or the refrigerator section is not cold. It is warm. Any suggestion on why this is...

Hi, Check in the freezer section and see if there is frost building up on the rear panel. Notice if the evaporator fan motor is running. If there is frost, you need to repair the defrost cycle.
Please let me know if this what you find so I can assist you further.
