I've had for a few years now a Black and Decker KC1462F 14.4v Firestorm Drill and Tourch set with Two battery packs. The problem I have now is that both batteries refuse to recharge with the charger that came with the set. The charger dosn't get warm when "working" as it used to. I bought a replacement Black and Decker charger, Model No. 486910-16. When I put either battery in this new charger the Fully Charged light comes on straight away but the battery is discharged. If I leave the battery in the charger for a while and test it with the tourch or drill it still hasn't regained any charge. My questions now are, are BOTH of my batteries dead, is the original charger at fault or have I bought the wrong replacement charger??? ( It did list my drill as compaterble)
Any help please, JJW.

it is probably the brushes on the motors are wore out or stuck and not making contact. pretty much junk unless you feel confident enough to attempt repair.
It's in the **** end. You must unscrew all the black screws in the
lower handle. Remove the black heel. Then unplug the Red wire. Carefully
pull out the battery pack. Then unplug the black wire
This close to father's day you should be able to buy a new drill for about the same as a battery. The 12v would overheat the motor if you ran it for an extended period.
With a multimeter set it to 12 volt dc and place the leads on the two parts that would be touching the battery. If you see voltage then it is a bad battery.
George, firestorm bats. I believe are for the drills ? There is usually a 2 year warranty on B&D products, either take it back to the store where you purchased or contact Black & Decker : blackanddecker.com
