I dont have a dvd driver only a cd rom one and when i put a dvd in nothing happens

Hi,

The reason behind that is because the CD ROM cannot read DVDs. If you want to play or install DVD based programs you need to replace your CD ROM with a DVD-ROM or DVD-RW. You also can purchase an external DVD ROM if you dont want take that CD ROM from its place.

Rating my assistance will greatly be appreciated. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

Sometimes the CD are protected and cannot be played with every ROM. and also try playing another CD/DVD to study if it would do the same.About opening the CD/DVD-ROM if it is still not opening get an office-pin and push it into the small visible hole on the CD/DVD-ROM

Sony DVD ROM will not open, light comes on and tries to open but will not. Other DVD works fine. What with the Sony DVD?

try to find a tiny hole on the drive( near LED or eject button) and insert a niddle or some kind of hard pin which can go inside of it push little bit hard (drive will open) , dont keep your drive empty if not in use put any useless DVD ROM in it so that it will get open when you want to use

My DVD-ROM tray opens only after many tries.

As per your information you done all the basic work. Hope you use little bit of oil drop in the side of the tray. If not then try that .If no success then there is a small spring available for tray in and out function. You have to change that spring from a service center or if possible then at home.
Thanks and waiting for your reply.

My acer aspire 5315 dvd rom doesnt work at all but somtime it do

There is a problem with the DVD ROM. Maybe it is not well fixed and causing conflict which result in making the computer slow. And maybe it is not contacting the system well again, that's why it worked and later not worked when it loose contact.

I would advice that you shut down your system, loose the DVD ROM and put the system back on without the DVD ROM after a little while when the windows must have settled, shut down the system again and fixed back the DVD ROM. Make sure it is well connected and put the system back on again. Test the DVD ROM and see if it would give the same problem. If it does, then may be you will have to replace the DVD ROM.

One a DVD ROM is bad, another one needs to be purchased, because it is usually difficult to repair DVD ROM expect in minor case.

I wish you the best.

My computer dont want to play dvd

Well, you need a DVD-ROM not a CD-ROM. If you have a CD-ROM and it's not playing then it's because you need a DVD-ROM and it's not working then I don't know, sorry! From Jake @ Dudey-Dreamz.piczo.com

Internal CD ROM will Not Open

Unless you can do electronic repair yourself and have the schematics for the drive it will be far cheaper and easier for you to simply replace it. Any DVD drive for computers will fit in there. I would buy a new one rather than used so you make sure and get the software with it. Replacing the drive is a 30 minute job at most.

Cd/dvd rom not working

go into device manager and see if your drive is listed or has an exclamation point beside it.if you dont know how to open device manger go to start menu and click help and search device manager.if there is an exclamation point ! click it and it will tell you the problem.you may need to download a new driver or reinstall the old driver. the only other possibility is the drive is dead :(
