Hi!
That is probably the compressor relay
The relay is on the compressor and needs replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay

Thank you for using fixya

I have an 11 cf upright freezer. it has been running most of the time or at least make a noise. and I just defrosted it. and its still doing the same thing. any comments?

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire freezer is making noise and you have recently defrosted it, but your freezer is still making the noise. Your freezer will make certain noises which are normal operating noises for the freezer.

The compressor is a high efficiency so you may hear it during start up and while running. Additionally, refrigerant circulating through your freezer can make a tapping sound or even a gurgling noise. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

Frigidaire model FRT21TSG refridge...defrosts and refreezes by it self, When I checked it there was no ice build up on the coils, and the compressor was not running, does the timer control the compress

Replace the aftermarket 3n1 gizmo with another one, its probably burnt out again, the compressor should almost always run if the fan is running, if it does not, it needs a new start mechanizm, thats the aftermarket thing your talking about, make sure you wire it the same as the old one

Freezer thaws and refreezes daily

Hi,
The would be a problem with the defrost sticking and staying on too long...change the defrost timer/control board out....
the defrost cycle is making the freezer warm and then it goes off and the freezer refreezes...

most times it fails the other way and does not work at all but sometimes this happens...

My frigidaire refrigerator keeps defrosting on the freezer side

sounds like a bad defrost timer
or depending on the model a bad
electronic or adaptive defrost board

The ice in my ice maker bucket is melting and refreezing into a solid mass. I just looked at a recently made cube and it still has liquid in the center.

Yours has a 215846602 Defrost Timer, Located inside the fresh food compartment. I believe that it's sticking in defrost and you possibly need a new defrost timer.
Here is a photo location of the timer # 23 is the timer. I want you to turn the timer until the refrigerator compressor stops. Time it for about 25 minutes and the refrigerator should restart. If not then it's sticking in defrost so again turn clockwise slowly until the compressor restarts. That is possibly what is causing the melting and refreezing. Sea Breeze

WATER IN BOTTOM OF FREEZER/TURNS TO ICE FRS28XGCB

its probably the automatic defrost cycle.there should be a drain in the bottom of your freezer, and it must be clogged. The automatic defrost keeps ice from building up in your freezer by melting it,and letting the water run out the drain. If the drain is blocked by something or clogged the water collects, and refreezes. You need to unblock the drain.

Cold freezer/warm refrigerator

Same problem with Frigidaire Gallery model#GLRT182SAW5 (dated 2002 on back of case)

Vents were blocked with ice. Vents (from top compartment to lower) located behind light. You can check by poking a chopstick up the (2) holes; be careful not to hit fan blades.

Solution:

- took freezer coil cover off in back; checked that defrost heater element was working (marked and rotated the timer in the hole next to light); checked that fan working. Found ice in the vents and defrost drip area. Got it out with hair dryer.

- cleaned compressor coils in back (check fan is rotating; also tweaked some of the compressor tubing bends to make them more smooth - read somewhere about a manufacturing defect ...); blew out drip tube from defroster while down there.

- Set the freezer control to WARM and the refrig control to COLD (THIS SHOULD IMPROVE AIR FLOW FROM TOP TO BOTTOM).

- Put thermometers in top and bottom. Checked that refrigerator cycles (not running continuously). Checked that cold air is coming down from (2) vents behind light.

OK: so far, so good. Lower compartment is 40 or under. Top is under 18.

CONCLUSION: Suspect marginal design. Had problems with another similar model where defroster ice doesn't drain correctly, pools and refreezes. Leading to blocked vents as well as blocked defroster drain and similar problem including dripping water from top to bottom and warm bottom.

MAYBE KEEPING THE FREEZER CONTROL AT WARM GETS AROUND THE PROBLEM?? ANYWAY, ITS WORKING FOR ME FOR NOW !!
