Use a business card to gap the magneto to flywheel. That dimension will work for 99.99%, and I can't tell you which one does NOT work... Surface rust will not affect the coil function.

You need to remove a pulley to put the new belt on.

For a Model HRR2163TDA 5.5hp.(GVC 160 Honda)..it is .028 - .31 in Don't know what model you have ...would assume about the same...I am not an expert

if you cleaned the carb thats great however if its a carb with a fuel bowl youll have to unscrew this and clean it to they have a habit of accumulating dirt and rust from moisture after cleaning bowl fuel should flow corectly without obstruction allowing smooth running operation also spark plugs are pre gapped for your mower model no need to adjust unless you bent it or are toing a custom projet such as go cart

Keith the simplest answer is normal Lawnmower oil. All good DIY stores sell it but in litre bottles. Just add it a bit at a time so it dont overfill.

check belt length for stretch.pulleys for wear,oil on belts &or wear of belt.check engage handle adjustment is correct

check grass build up around belt. oil on belt..Worn belt check cable function at handle and under belt cover

remove plastic cover to access drive mechanism
check belt and remove debris and try again
