Pilot goes out when you turn up thermstat

The thermocouple, the part that is heated from pilot light and produce small electricity and is connected to the gas valve, is a small copper pipe wire, need to be replace since it can not enough electricity so to keep the electromagent on valve on when you try to turn up and the gas coming out from the burner is blowing out the pilot light.
So the most posible reason is to replace the thermocouple which is the cheapest part. Their is a very small chance that the gas valve is faulty but this depents how old the fryer is and how much have been work.

Soot build up

Flame is Orange? If so, propane is "choked", not enough air. Remove burners, clean each burner hole with a same size metal dowel (coat hanger works well) flush out inside of burner with garden hose, hi pressure air through all holes to dry. Replace burners ONLY after also cleaning chambers and chimney (garden hose and long brush). Do not forget to clean pilot light area too.
Most Imperials are pre-set air intake. Check gas pressure if able, 3" NG, 10" LPG. Good Luck

Black soot

Soot is caused by a few things in gas appliances. Propane even more so. Lack of combustion air is usually the culprit. In propane fired equipment orifice alignment, high pressure or the wrong burner orifice can cause yellow flames the result in soot build up. You need to find the culprit. Best to have a service tech check it out and clean it. when you know what to look for it can be easily fixed.

Valentine Pension 1-83. The fryer heats the oil and then the switch on electric board trips? Please help

Hi there! Check the rating of the electrical circuit breaker where the unit is tapped, it must be at least 25 % higher than the unit' s current rating on nameplate to avoid tripping. If hi-limit of the unit trips after reaching temperature setting, try lowering the set point; hi-limits are designed to trip off at 450F for safety. Or it may be faulty causing premature or early trip off temperature. Regards.

Change from natural gas to propane

1.You will need to change the pilot orifice and the burner orifices
2. You may need to change the gas control valve. Some gas control valves are made for natural gas and some are made for LP. They have regulators built-in, that deliver the correct pressure respectively. Natural gas is 3.5 inches of water column, LP is 10 inches of water column.
Some manufacturers sell kits to change the spring in the regulator from Nat to LP
You would need a parts breakdown on the specific model number of your fryer to find the parts you need. Hope this helps.
