HP Photosmart C4280 Aio Printer - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I don't know how to
just had to deal with this problem and it fixed the issues. while the printer is on, open the service door you use when changing the ink. when the ink goes to the right side of the printer, you will see something slide back and forth to the front and back of the printer..this is the printer head. close the door and turn the printer off. the ink will return to the left side of the printer. while the printer is off, reopen the service door. the printer head is free sliding, so reach in and pull it to the front. watch out, there may be lots of loose ink in there. use a windex type solution on a paper towel to wipe down the plastic flippers. i did this a couple of times because i got tons of ink off the first time. i don't know if the printer head comes out, but i didn't want to chance it, and it worked just fine this way. hope it helps.
I have refilled the ink in my hp74 cartridge and
Your refilled hp 74 will not register as full after you do a refill.
You will have to remove some ink out of the ink cartridge.
There is a special clip that can be purchase to do this.
You could just leave the cartridge in overnight for the ink to reach the bottom.
The ink cartridge will then be able to print.
The printer is saying that
First, turn off your printer, and uninstall the drivers/software (all hp components installed with the printer), restart your computer.
You can try resetting the machine now:
Press the On button and turn off the HP All-in-One.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the HP All-in-One.
Wait for 20 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the HP All-in-One.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Turn on the HP All-in-One by pressing the On button.
If the above troubleshooting methods don't seem helpful, proceed to the next step...
Now follow the below instructions:
Remove all the cartridges, clean the contact points on the cartridges and on the printer using soft brush/cotton dipped in alcohol/acetone /spirit.
While the cartridges are kept for drying, do the following:
Turn it off > Disconnect usb cable, power cord, inthernet cable; >remove the papers from the tray >open the back panel door (the rear door where you clear paper jam). Also turn off the mains switch which the dc adapter is plugged in. After keeping it Off for about 5 minutes, turn on the printer again with only the power cord connected, keep tapping the cancel button while it boots up and again leave it On for few minutes > turn it off > connect all the cables > again turn it On and keep pressing the power button while it boots up. Now you can install the cartridges. Check the status message. It should work fine now.
If the problem persists,
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
How do i check to
USB plug-ins (ports) are flat/small/rectangular openings and have half (if you look directly into the end of the plug-in) of the opening filled with a little flat (usually white) connector and the other half open to recieve the of themselves from the cord that plugs in.
Do I need to use hp products only?
No but if you use third party (non-HP) products you will invalidate the warranty and potentially you may damage the printer. Having said that, many users can and do purchase cheaper non-HP consumables and claim that they produce output of comparable quality. In the end it's down to you to weigh up the risk offset against the potential cost savings. HP (or any other printer manufacturer) obviously want you to purchase their own branded consumables, so they're always going issue dire warnings about warranty violation and inferior quality issues from using third party products. One other thing to bear in mind, it tends to be just as cheap/expensive to replace a printer as it does to repair it!
Would you kindly rate my answer please if this has helped resolve the problem - thanks :)
I am trying to scan a document and it is not
hi
Place the document or image into the scanner for scanning. A scanner with a paper feeder will only receive flat papers and photographs, but a flatbed scanner opens to accommodate books, fabrics and leaves along with flat papers. There is even a attachment for feeding photo slides into flatbed scanners.
Step 2
Start the scanning software. If the scanner does not engage the software automatically, press the "start" or "scan" button, or click the scanner icon on the computer screen to initialize the software.
Step 3
Activate the scan. Click the "file" menu and select "acquire," "import," or another practical choice that applies.
Step 4
Preview the item to be scanned. Most scanners have a preview option. This will show the scan area inside dotted lines. The lines can be moved with the mouse to relocate, enlarge or crop the scanning area.
Step 5
Set the resolution for images by number of dots per inch (dpi). For computer screen viewing, 100 dpi should suffice. Use 200 to 300 dpi for items to be printed.
Step 6
Use the appropriate setting for scanning black and white text. If the scanner does not show a preset for text, use "line art" or "black and white" at 300 dpi. Then use the optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert the image of the text into a file for word processi
HP Photosmart displays a message saying
Remove the cartridge.
Make sure that you removed a piece of clear plastic tape that covers the ink-jets. It's placed there to prevent the ink from drying-out while the cartridge has been sitting on the shelf at the computer store.
Re-insert the cartridge, and be sure that it "clicks" into place.

There may be debris that is blocking the communication between the cartridge and the printer, especially if you are using a remanufactured cartridge. Remove the cartridge and unplug the printer from the power supply. Take a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and wipe off the contacts on the cartridge as well as the contacts inside of the printer. Allow both to dry for a few minutes before plugging the printer back in and re-installing the cartridge. This should clear up any miscommunication between the two.
