Your printer has a print head under the ink cartridges. You can try a cleaning, and if this does not fix the issue, you may need to replace the print head . Clean Printheads function To activate the Clean Printheads function from the front panel:

  1. From the front panel, press MENU.
  2. Press the RIGHT or LEFT ARROW until Status and Maintenance displays.
  3. Press ENTER
  4. Press the RIGHT or LEFT ARROW until Clean Printheads displays.
  5. Press ENTER

The printer will not print black. I have changed

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

Hello.

That strip is the encoder strip. Wipe it gently with a Q-tip before replacing it. Place it behind the carriage and hook on either side. Move the carriage if necessary. Close the cover and the printer should reset itself.

Hope this resolves your problem.

I'm trying to scan a document into Word and keep

Hey JD!
It probably means that the scanner isn't configured well in the computer. What you should do, while to printer is turned on and connected to the computer is to go to the device manger (right click on "my computer" or "computer", and then go to the tab named "device manager"). go to "universal series bus controllers" and press on the plus sign. you should then have a list, search for "USB composite device" in that list. when you find it, right click on it and then left click on "uninstall" or "remove", approve it (press yes or OK) and after it done, disconnect the usb cable that connects the computer to the printer and restart the computer. only after the computer is booted up completely, you should reconnect the cable. after you do that you should get a pop up that says that new hardware is being installed (or something like that). wait for it to finish and after it says "you new hardware is installed and ready" (should appear near you computer clock), try to scan, it should work fine now. Good luck!

Is it just the printheads?? or could it be something else?

Hi There
Ok try tois first.
Summary

Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead

1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning

And if that not work

Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.

Ok.

There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

After printer is on for

Hi,

Solution one: Check the scanner light
  1. Follow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  2. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  3. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  4. Make a color copy.
  5. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. It is not necessary to lift the lid completely.
The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.

Solution two: Check the power connection
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the power connection.

  1. Press the Power button to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the product power cord from any surge protector, extension cord, or power strip, and then connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.
  3. Press the Power button to turn on the product.
  4. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  5. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  6. Try again to make a color copy.
  7. Press the Power button to turn off the product, disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet, and then reconnect the power cord to a different wall outlet.
  8. Press the Power button to turn on the product.
Try again to make a color copy.If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists we have to reset the printer. Doing reset in the beginning stage is not recommended. Reply me back and i will provide the reset step instruction.

Wont print

I use a clear silicone tube to carefully prime the carts by sucking a dab of ink out of the tiny print holes before installation. I am careful to have a tight seal at the holes to prevent getting too much ink and possibly getting it in my mouth.
