Hello Joe, Typically when you have a whirlpool type tub, there is either a built-in air switch on the tub that will turn the tub motor, on and off, or the tub needs to have a wall switch to turn it on and off.

The switch has to be located so it is at least a minimum distance of 3-4 feet from the edge of either a tub or shower stall, and it must be connected to a GFCI protected circuit. Normally any whirlpool tub requires a separate dedicated 20 Amp 120 Volt AC circuit for proper operation and to meet code.

I believe that the female plug is for an optional, in-line heater that can be installed into the tub unit. You should be able to check the installation manual that came with the tub to verify the proper wiring required for your specific unit and model.

I would contact the manufacturer to get a copy of the installation guide and instructions for your model, so you are certain that it is properly installed and the wiring you are using meet the NEC (National Electric Code).

If it has the little oval off/on button, it sounds like the control box or off/on button is bad. If you have access to the pump assembly, follow the pump power cord to the little black box (zip tied to a tube up high), this black box has a small cable that goes to the off/on button. unplug the pump from the box and plug the pump into the power outlet. it should run continuously. If it runs, you need a new control box or /offon button. Buy the off/on button first, as this button is prone to water getting into it, and costs less than the control box.

I couldn't find the information you are asking for in the installation manual. I have included a link to the pdf page so you can print it out and look at it in print. On this particular question, I think I would give Jacuzzi a call. They can better answer you question without guessing.

Normally the jet pump is a two speed motor so you can have more or less air to the jets. I would go by the mfg. recommendation fully on this. They know what the tub is designed for and what installation requires. The plumber may want to run up the bill a bit on you, not saying that he is, but... All the electric power source to all jacuzzi tubs all required to be protected by a "ground fault" device. Have you noticed special wall receptacles in your kitchen and bathroom that have 'test' and 'reset' buttons? There may be a receptacle (or something that looks like a receptacle but without any slots for plugs) near the tub. Push the reset button. If the pump for the tub has an access panel, the device may be behind the panel. And last, the circuit breaker in the main electrical panel may be a ground fault type and needs reset there. Didn't fully drain at the end of last year, that gunk was mold, rust and gunk that's been sitting in the piping since last year. Not really a problem just remember to take a closer look at the plumbing on your tub next year and get all of the possible places that water may hold drained completely.

first of all you need to be draining the tub completely and removing any bath mats or items from inside. Fill the tub with hot water, ensuring that the jets are covered. You can use white vinegar, 2-3 cups of white vinegar directly to the water in the tub. Turn on the whirlpool system and run it for 15-20 minutes. While the jets are running, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the jet openings and the interior walls of the tub. Drain the Tub: Refill the tub with clean water and run the jets again for another 10-15 minutes to rinse out any remaining cleaning solution. This should help. This is what I did with mine
