Just bought the bike and the previous owner told me he had taken it to garage and they said no compression on 2 of the cylinders, what could cause this?

Take a look at the exhaust valves. If the exhaust valves are not opening, the pressure will build (sort of like an air compressor). There should be a cam for the intake and the exhaust, make sure the cam and the valves are operating correctly. Also, check your base gasket and head gaskets. If either gasket is too small, it'll boost your cylinder pressure. It is common to switch out the base gasket and/or head gaskets with thinner ones as an inexpensive mod to boost cylinder pressure. Lastly, too much carbon on the piston head or cylinder head can boost cylinder pressures (rare); the carbon can be a problem which can lead to detonation as well.
The ZX6, as with most four-cylinder motorcycle engines, is mounted transversely in the frame. When sitting on the bike, the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 left to right.
Firing Order: the firing order is 1-2-4-3. There is no distributor for the engine, as ignition is controlled electronically.
Extra Ignition Information: there are only two ignition coils for this engine. Each coil has two spark plug wires. One coil fires cylinders 1 and 4. The other fires cylinders 2 and 3
#1 cylinder is on the left side as you sit on the bike. The plugs are numbered in accordance to the HT lead connection.
From left to right the plugs are numbered 1234
Just because a spark plug fires outside the motor doesnt mean its firing under compression. Start by making sure you have new spark plugs. If that doesnt help then do a compression test on all cylinders and compare.
for most bikes, you need to buy an aftermarket ignition module/computer module, as the factory one is set to meet emmision controls, and engine protection. the cost varries from bike to bike , but its always worth it if you want to use the full potential of the bike
Change the coils into a different order and see what happens. If it starts firing on 2 different cylinders then you know that you need to replace the coil packs
