Hi i have a good spark on all cylinders and carbs
Just because a spark plug fires outside the motor doesnt mean its firing under compression. Start by making sure you have new spark plugs. If that doesnt help then do a compression test on all cylinders and compare.
2004 Polaris Sportsman 400 Only idles, quits Electrical Problem?
Sounds like the battery may have a bad cell. The reason it quits dying is that there isn't enough juice in the battery to fire the plugs. On older pull start vehicles the stator put out the power to run the coils. On atv's with batteries, the power output is sent to the battery, and then to everything else. If the battery is bad or just dead, it eats up the current and leaves nothing to run the motor. The dash lights go out because it completely drains all current until even those lights go out. Once the motor quits runnung, there is enough current to get those lights back on again. Hope this helps...

Water in Oil!
I would go for the water pump seal first, it is an easy fix.
Pull the left case cover and there it is. You will of course
have to take the water pump cover off and all the plumbing
that goes with it. Be sure that when you put the new water pump seal in
not to put any lubricant like oil or grease on it. This is a ceramic seal
and oil or grease on it will ruin it. There is also a spring in there that keeps pressure on the seal so replace that as well. You will see what is there when you get it apart.
Replace any corroded/rusted parts.
Take a good look at the impeller and make sure it is 100% while you are in there.
Sometimes these will break loose from the shaft. If you have any questions about it replace it.
If after that you still have water in the oil it would be a head or base gasket I am thinking
requiring an adult to intervene, a qualified Ducati mechanic.

Originaly the 3black wires would have been yellow sounds like its been rewired, you can connect any one to any yellow as this is a 3 faze alternator and they all throw ou the same power, before you do so,(with the ignition key removed) use a multimeter set to ohms put red lead to one wire record the reading when you touch the black wire to one of the other two wires, next move the black and record reading to the other of the two wires, this will determin that you have continuity around the three circuits

How good is your battery? To run the starter without load as you are doing in your test the current draw would be somewhere in the region of about 30 amps. As soon as you put a load on it like the engine start, the initial current draw to get the engine turning could momentarily be in the vicinity of about 150 amps and then settle down to a running current of 75 amps or more. If the battery getting to the stage where it cannot deliver its near full potential, it will not turn the engine over. The clicking is the starter solenoid kicking in and out because the battery voltage drops so low that there is not enough power to hold it in when the starter is put in line and acts as a near dead short.
Try a new battery, charge the battery or try a jump start.

Have you checked to see if you jump the wiring on the fan that it works? If so jump the wires on the temp sensor. If it spins and works then test the temp gauge. If its not working its not telling the fan to engage. Should open 170-200 Degrees

I reset the belt light
2004 700 Belt light reset procedure.
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2.
Disconnect both sets of 5 pin connectors located above the CVT cover.
Note: These connectors are located just beneath the shift handle on the
right side of the 650; one is black and one is grey.
3. Connect these 5 pin connectors to their opposite pairs (grey to black and black to grey).
4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5.
Disconnect the belt failure switch at the 2-pin connector above the CVT
cover. (Note: Just follow the wires coming from the rectangular black
box on the CVT Cover to locate this connector.)
6. Observe the
belt-warning lamp. It should be flashing at a 0.4 second interval for a
few seconds then start to flash slower. Let the lamp flash for at least
seven seconds.
7. After seven seconds or more, turn the ignition switch off.
8. Reconnect 5 pin connectors to their proper location (black to black, grey to grey).
9. Connect the belt failure switch 2-pin connector (wires from CVT cover).
10.
Turn the ignition switch on to confirm that the belt warning light is
not flashing. Retry this procedure if needed.
This was to reset the light is the belt had not tripped the switch from being loose.
If the belt was loose that the switch was tripped, then all you need to do is tighten the belt and reset the switch to "On".
This procedure is just if the belt light stays on after
flipping the switch back to "ON", or it may have come on automatically
at 100 hours to get you to return the machine to the dealer for
inspection even though the belt switch is not tripped.
