Anybody know for sure what is the firing order on the fazer? I,ve been getting very mixed answers which only compound the diagnosis of its fault

The firing order for your bike seems to be a secret. I have just spent a quarter hour Googling it and found nothing except information about how the race engine was developed to have uneven firing intervals so it behaved more like a vee-4 engine. It isn't difficult to discover the firing order for yourself if you don't mind getting dirty, though it could be easier to just ask a good Yamaha mechanic - probably by visiting a dealer. Remove the spark plugs and turn the engine steadily in the normal direction of rotation. Traditionally the "front" of the engine or number 1 cylinder is at the generator or none-drive end but a few manufacturers do number from the drive end. The alternator rotor is often marked with valve timing information, namely a tdc mark and maybe others. A hollow spark plug with some tubing glued into it will be a great help. Crypton used to supply one for your purpose with a whistle attached which was most useful. Any cylinder where the piston was moving up with the valves closed would create a whistling noise until the piston reached the top of its stroke. This won't help decide which cylinder is the theoretical number 1 but detecting and noting the order of cylinders reaching the compression stroke will give an idea of the firing order. It is unlikely to be in cylinder order as that would be difficult to arrange and keep the engine in good balance and would mean making the crankshaft much stronger than it needs to be. Such firing orders as 1 3 4 2 or 1 2 4 3 are commonly used to limit torsional vibrations of the crankshaft. Good luck!

When i start it up it dies on me

Several things could be an issue, the first thing I would do is replace the fuel filter, then make sure the carburetor is clear and cleaned out. To do this, you would have to remove the air filter housing to carburetor and while engine is off, spray a cleaner into the carb, then let dry, also make sure you have a clean air filter as well. You might also double check your spark plugs to make sure their clean and not fouled out(dirty). These are simple minor things you can do to keep your vehicle running better... Hopefully this will help

Yamaha fazer 600 1999 misfire under load

If you can QUICKLY touch the exhaust pipe near the head do so to narrow down which cylinder is misfiring. Misfired cylinder will be cold or safe to touch. Do this quickly so you dont blister your fingers. Sounds like a lazy float from storing extended period. This is quite common if you don't fire the engine for months. If the float is stuck you can gently tap the float bowl with a screwdriver handle. Worst case pull the bowl, remove float and clean the float needle and seat. All signs point to a lack of fuel. You can pull the cold spark plug and examine it for signs of fuel...wet or dry?
