Yes you can do it yourself. Make sure you get a service manual it may be just needing new pads. If the rotors are all scared up you may need to replace them also. I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/al_e83b1941f9c0f302

Could be a faulty starter motor. I would check the power to the motor when you try to start it.
Hope that helps.

Yamaha 600 fazer 1998. I am replacing the chain

If you don't plan on reusing it, you can use a hacksaw between the joints or a drill through one of the links. You can take it off by removing the trailing arm but that is a bit like eating soup with a fork.

Hello, I just changed the starter on a 91 fatboy.

I think you are on the right path. Check the relay it is about a $10 fix. Your relay if faulty could have been a problem all along. Did you replace the starter after bench testing the old one?
In order for the starter to "turn over" by itself the circuit had to be closed somehow, either through a manual process or something like a relay. Hope this helps.

Please can i have a diagram of a 1998 fazer

Right.
With a bike of that age, I really suggest you get yourself a service manual. You should be able to get one from the dealer, mfr, or from clymer books.
Meantime, If you're in the USA, go to the library reference section. 646 stacks should have what you need. Not sure about UK libraries...

Replaced battery on 600cc fazer w reg,but wont

You could have a problem with the started motor. Take out battery and remove spark plug, re-place battery in and try starting a few times without any throttle. Place spark plug in. full throttle and start. If tis does not work you may have a oily end of the spark plug in which case you should CAREFULLY remove it again and dry it off with a towel. try heating up the end of it gently with a lighter carful not to get it too hot or to burn the actual spark plug. you only want to burn off the oil. Reput it in and try starting it again.
Thanks

Clutch knocking noise when idling

Id bet if you pulled the clutch cover and pulled the clutches out of the basket the basket is damaged where the clutch plates make contact with the basket. The rectangle slots in the outside of the basket.
